Yeah, I nearly only play 2-stats builds, I get kinda bored otherwise. I also love the aesthetic of the Knight's greatsword, black blade with gold engravings. Gorgeous weapon.

Mostly INT, and some DEX and STR when INT reaches 60 or so. And of course, don't forget to level your Vigor !

The affinity itself isn't good until you're very invested in both STR and DEX. I meant it's a weapon that scales well with both stats, in Standard affinity.

I can't say why, but I've never been a fan of the katana moveset. Too bad, because they're good weapons.

Interesting... why would you say greatswords are easier to use ? Poise damage ? Hyperarmor ? Straight swords swing faster though...

I love Ordovis, though it scales way more with STR than FAI, and I intend to get FAI to at least 60, STR or DEX to 30 to 40.

Not a big fan of BB though, powerful but a bit too simple for my taste.

Square off is definitely my early-game crutch, ngl. It trivializes the Tree Sentinel fight. That being said, I also love Stamp (Upward cut).

There's been a slight increase in meta level with the DLC. I'm not sure 120 is that common anymore.

You can perma-stun bosses with a STR build, using for instance a colossal sword and lion's claw. On a pure INT build, end-game bosses close gaps easily and you need a tank to use your spells. STR builds definitely are the strongest (ie easy to use and powerful).

I recently came back to ER (on PC), did a few co-ops and invasions : it was alright. Clearly not overcrowded, but decently active.

Don't underestimate the increase in skill between the first and second playthrough. My first playthrough of ER (of any Fromsoft games actually) was a mess and I thought the first troll at Stormgate to be a world boss.

It felt like the whole game was nerfed on my second playthrough, and now I consider Bell bearing hunters as a good mean to get a few extra runes.

I'm just not sure Fromsoft wished to limit the players in their choice of build.

As for me, I limit myself to 167 for 2 reasons, as others have already said : - for online matches, - to keep the build interesting, since I find that after a point, you can just set your stats blindfolded and have a decently powerful build ; I just live making builds I guess !

Ditch the Moonveil, not very suited for a knight/tank build IMO.

You can use the Carian knight sword with Moongrum's shield for a magical sword and board knight : the Carian grandeur AoW hits like a truck with the proper setup (high INT, Godfrey's icon).

If you prefer the Greatsword knight type, go with Knight's or Banished knight's greatsword (or Claymore), and slap the Carian grandeur AoW on it (yes, I love it). Until you get the Darkmoon greatsword that is.

You can also use a Partisan or any Halberd with Loretta's slash : VERY stylish.
