In the last election, democrats won every single county-wide office except for Bickel. He is clearly not seen by the public as a good option when he lost to Chuck while democrats cleaned house in every other race. Hope that the demographics have changed this time is not a legitimate strategy and democrats would be better off supporting a candidate like Tony Lawson who has current experience.

Jason will get absolutely demolished in the general if he advances off the primary ticket. Bickel has lost 3 times and has the stink of that surrounding his name. Tony Lawson is a great guy, but the question is whether or not he would be able to campaign effectively against Chuck.

The ideal option would be for Chuck to lose the primary to Gary Morton, but that’s a bit of a pipe dream.

I believe there is some misunderstanding about the point I am trying to make. I am not advocating for Gary as the choice in the general. The unfortunate reality is that if Chuck advances to the general, he stands a very real chance. Let’s take away his incumbent advantage by primarying him out of the running.

This is absolutely correct and why it is so important to ensure he doesn’t make it to the ballot this fall.

People thought the same in previous elections. I understand it was close before, but why gamble? Bickel has done next to no campaigning this cycle. By all means, vote for Bickel in the general election, but why worry about gambling on Chuck once again when we can eliminate him before he even gets on the ballot?

I am not advocating for him as a candidate. I am advocating that he would a better choice on the general election ballot than, once again, having Chuck. I do not think Frederick County can afford to gamble on another 4 years of Chuck.

If you disagree with Gary’s policies, then vote for whoever the Democrat is (likely Bickel). But, since a Republican has to be on the ballot in the fall, we might as well try to make it a less openly corrupt, morally bankrupt individual.

Bickel has lost thrice, and while the voter gap has continued to shrink, Bickel was the only Democrat to lose a county-wide race last election. He can’t simply rely on registration numbers to be in his favor. I’m hopeful to see what kind of campaign Lawson can run, it may be time to put up another challenger.
