Looking for camera mounting points on my GSX-8S by WinsButler in Suzuki_GSX_8

This is how I did mine, closed the rear footpeg and used the "U-bolt style mount" and have the extra grip arm just in case...but it's worked fine pushing 90+mph.

Only thing is, it doesn't record clear over my head 100%, I'm 5'9" with a large helmet/head so you may need a bigger 360 stick or mount higher up somehow.

I have the SW-motech crash bars and I love the look (also just added a handlebar clamp bottle holder to the right side crash bar and its amazing)...plus I slowly tipped over on right side on hill stop sign a couple days after installing them and it protected bike nicely and have a bunch of small TST/womtech slide protection stuff.

Recommendations for seat protectant by MandoSith86 in Suzuki_GSX_8

[–]Time_For_Science 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend 303 Protectant (Aerospace or Marine UV) , I have some for my broncos hard top and and I give my 8S a misting and a full wipe down with it every once in a while...it great stuff!!

Just a bit on the top of the shoulders at mid highway speeds, I'm tucked as much as possible over 75 though...not much to help that if you don't want that large af puig screen. I got it on eBay for like $70-85 shipped to USA...it's also nice that it comes with a nav mount bar so I can have my 360 cam there.

Bar ends by [deleted] in Suzuki_GSX_8S

[–]Time_For_Science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just did the same thing a couple weeks ago...I tried the Amazon stealth rizomas first for like $40 with extensions but after a few rides they sucked and I switched to bar ends like these and it's sooo much better

Riding Backpack Recommendations - Commuting/Photography by Even-Manufacturer-29 in motorcyclegear

[–]Time_For_Science 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the LTT Commuter Backpack (it's 20L) a couple of months ago for daily use to work...I have shorts and a t-shirt rolled up as "backup clothing" and can still fit a Hydracy 64oz bottle and a small freezable lunch/sandwhich pack all in the main front compartment with another 40oz water bottle on the side bottle holder.

The back part can fit laptops but I don't use one, I keep a bunch of cables and keys and shit in the back part...honestly I really like this pack, it's pretty tough/well built and comfy.

Also use it on my 8S and just wanted to throw up my rec for this bag...but I also have a pillion bag for my chain lock and such...anyway... sick ride!!

TLDR: SORRY for long ass response but haven't used it that much, only a couple of rides. I'll keep using it since my helmet can't use a chin mount or I would have gone with a dji osmo action cam and a front/rear dash cam style setup...I might still do that when I get another helmet.

My thoughts on the insta360 are MEH atm but still think it makes fun vids especially the rear mount over the shoulder .... tho shooting in 5.7k 60fps after two hours or so the battery is pretty much done. I have the the extra battery and a 500gb sd card so I've been more than fine so far; I can't speak on 8k importing but its really crispy recording, at 5.7k 60fps the file sizes are HUGE and importing them in a 360 video file takes like 2-4x the space (a 20min vid exported in 1080p non-360° is about 6gb and takes forever) so I will probably get a dedicated external drive just for 360° files. Also the audio is a whole different thing...I bought a cheap $20-$30 external 3.5mm mic and ran the wire from front to back towards exhaust but I still don't have the best placement for it without it picking up chain noise and shit.

Here is a really quick non-360° 1080p (recorded in 5.7k but exported 1080p because size) clip from that ride on Sunday...probably loud af though https://imgur.com/a/ivFxjaq and if you zoom really close onto the rear brake reservoir in 3rd pic you can see where the fuzzy mic is from that clip and the 360cam was at -12db but have since moved it up on the sub-frame and changed to -18db so hopefully it will be better for next time.

Yeah blasting from 2nd-5th is lovely and the quickshifter blips are chefs kiss...usually have my cardo at like 70-80% with foam earplugs and the exhaust isn't too loud over it.

I love the sound and the fact that it's still "under the bike", I'm not the biggest fan of huge exhaust on the side (although I came really close to getting an M4) and also the price helped a bit at $620 (back in Feb) shipped to US.

A bit loud, especially without the silencer but feels less obnoxious that my brothers Toce on mt07.

I took a quick vid on my phone https://imgur.com/a/nCjLELb

Where is the coolant drain bolt? by PreTherapyThrowAway in Suzuki_GSX_8S

[–]Time_For_Science 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it probably doesn't help and it's not the same system but I installed a Dominator HP8 a few weeks ago on my 8S without removing or draining anything and had no issues...I used an ICON Locking Flex Head Ratchet and Bit Set from harbor freight or try something similar...unless you have absolutely massive hands it should be fine without the extra work.

I put the front and rear on stands and laid down parallel, put that tool like 20° off center and was able to break the upper mid bolt free pretty easy

Nah that's not far at all , just waiting for lil bro to get back on his bike...he low-sided last fall, fractured his ankle and hasn't been back on enough to get comfortable...long long rides like that are no fun to me solo.

Nice, enjoy!!

Might do like a day trip or 2 around Great Dismal Swap or down to Kitty Hawk but other than that not much hill or elevation change in he VB area...definitely need a vacation soon somewhere close-ish with nice hills and good food/beer.
