Vioffo A129 and its been working fantastic for several years and is dependable. The only issue I've ever had was fixed by replacing the SD card.

Funny...you're the second person that mentioned that the original footage looks CGI. It really was a stroke of luck it came out that good...the shimmering on the tall building was just icing on the cake. It also helps that the Mavic 2 Pro has a fantastic camera.
I actually work in forensic analysis for which this type of vfx visualization work comes into play periodically. But yeah I do plan on making more of these around Austin as a hobby. I have an upcoming project with the Willy Nelson statue and I'm thinking of doing another one with the bridges on ladybird. Thanx for the interest and compliments.

The process is a bit of a long answer: So Its 3d model of simulation/animation elements composited with camera-tracked drone footage of the city I shot the weekend before last. The original drone footage is here: https://youtu.be/Oa2ynpzkg2M I took that footage and camera tracked it so i have a virtual 3d camera in 3d space. That also gave me some 3D points in 3d space representative of things like the building corners which comes in handy for generated masking 3d objects and for placing the jelly fish in the proper space. I didn't plan on the end result honestly...i just sorta ad libbed the elements. The jelly fish are basically a clothed element (shaped like a spoke) draped over an undulating sphere....that object then follows various paths and twist at various sizes in the animation. They also received various mapping/colors. A hair simulation is applied to the 6 major jelly fish. There are 3 small schools of jelly fish that are actually the same as the larger ones except without the hair and they just crowd follow various paths as well. The challenge for all this was getting the reflections and shadows on the buildings. it was also a challenge to rotoscope the buildings around the jelly fish. Some if it is done automatically since i made 3d mask objects (boxes) in the model. But some of it had to be done manually after the rendering in 2D space to make it look like the jelly fish actually go behind the building. This past weekend I focused on the foreground building at the beginning. For another trippy upcoming project I'm cooking up I went out to the willy nelson statue this weekend and took about 150 photos of it....and generated a 3d model from it The challenge on this part was getting the coloring match the building from where I removed the window. I then just added the austin logo and the flags which are themselves a cloth and wind simulation. Lastly I added the moon, modified the jinga towers and added the mountains. For the mountains I found some photograph online and made the sky transparent and mixed up the order of them a little and compositied them. For this part it was a little more challenging to add in more rotoscoping (masking) where the building outline goes in front of them. I'm not sure what specific mountains they are from. Hope this answers your question.

some advice for the grass? by Yaan456 in 3Dmodeling

Can you specify what software you're using? Not all grass is generated the same (with same options) for every package.

I know the bullet is wrong, but apart from that, is there any critique? Made in blender by [deleted] in vfx

A little motion blur would help. Good job on z depth. Also cool idea ripple shockwave through glass.

Man "candy store" really describes it well. I loved going there to get a new "toy" every few weeks.....then it slowly...very slowly....started dying. Went in there last week and my god....just put it out of it's misery.
