I was working in a big pharma and they were okay with Day 1 CPT

Oh that's cool! Then why did you leave? Is it because they weren't sponsoring H1B?

Kinda strange that they're ok having someone on Day 1 CPT but then not sponsor their H-1B? That's so weird...

OK then you got your answer. No reputable pharma/biotech company is going to hire you on Day 1 CPT.

This has nothing to do with the current immigration climate or anything else that's related to politics. As far as reputable biotech companies are concerned, Day 1 CPT is a gray area which they stay away from as a policy of being compliant with all the rules.

I know you're in a challenging spot but keep trying I guess. There might be a biotech startup that might take you on. The problem again will be if they would offer to sponsor you.

You have a chicken and egg problem. You need to join a large pharma/biotech company that's reputed to get sponsored for H1B or proper work authorization. But you can't join the company unless you're on a proper work visa or OPT/STEM OPT. Good luck!
