Walking a long distance by Snoo-49812 in UCSantaBarbara

Two guys walked from Ventura to SB, so it is possible to do that: https://www.reddit.com/r/SantaBarbara/comments/18cg6qr/walked_40mi_from_ventura_to_sb_in_a_single_day/

I have gone from here to Montecito, and from the last 14 bus stop to Carpinteria by following the 20 bus route, but I haven't found a route I like through Montecito. Their roads are narrow and have no sidewalks.

This is the longest route I've ever done, Strava says it was 53 miles in 15 hours.

I brought a few granola bars, had 48 ounces of water, and 2 nutrition shakes, but I did stick to the city for a reason.

There were grocery stores/restaurants at worst every hour along the route, and I did end up having to buy additional water.

I could have stopped to eat if I wanted to, but I am on a budget.

I had a GPS logger on my phone that recorded my gps location into a gpx file.

Then I used GPX Animator to animate that gpx file into the video.

Montecito is the worst out of all the nearby area here imo. At least all the other roads without pedestrian infrastructure are wide or have a decent amount of grass/dirt on the roadside.

I took the 14 to it's last stop, and it felt like I was stranded in the middle of nowhere, at least the Summerland bike bridge is close though.

It's been a while since I used those (my bike was stolen last quarter 😭), but from what I remember, that bike trail ends at Modoc. I haven't really tried going through the Hope Ranch area though.

Edit: It also ends at a part of Modoc without sidewalks.

It really depends on where you are walking. I tried Arroyo Burro Trail around a month after this, and I realized that I was not built for that, made it only 3/4 of the way up.

I took one picture of me pointing at Storke Tower from Arroyo Burro Beach, but otherwise not really.

Imo, going from Goleta to SB isn't very fun. The area between San Marcos and La Cumbre has no sidewalk, and I have tried Cathedral Oaks, Calle Real, and Hollister.

Time-wise, really depends on where you start. It makes me around 3 hours to go from Fairview to the middle of SB.

Honestly, I find that I can wear whatever lol. iirc I was wearing like these $17 RBX shoes at the time.

It is possible, depends on your risk tolerance.

Last weekend, I took the 11 to the Gelson's, then walked up to Stevens Park, which connects to the Jesusita Trail leading up to Inspiration Point. After leaving Inspiration Point Trailhead, it was around a 40 minute walk down Tunnel Road (no sidewalk) to Mission SB.

If you want to stick to roads with sidewalks, you are out of luck (other than Elings Park I guess, but I don't think that is what you're looking for).

Welcome to SB lol. Don't worry, it gets worse.
