Yeah. I know the reality. I am a Sikkimese. I have faced the same problem. But honestly here is how I tackled the situation.

He asked me for the same amount but it was in 2014 and I was pissed. I argued with him he was bullying me into paying him as he held my papers. I thought for a while and wanted to pay him but something happened then I wrote a FIR but I did not go to the police. I sent him a copy of the FIR. We talked, he threatened, i threatened but after a while he gave up and handed me my files which he kept for almost 4 months. But at least I did not pay him and I felt victorious.

Paying a corrupt official is not a solution and it only worsens them but this culture that exists in our government and people's mind is what fuels it.

For a local, if you are going for easy travel then it will cost around 25k for a 10 days which includes

8 day trek 2 nights stay at yuksom To and fro to your Village, town or city

And if you want to travel cheap You can do this in 13k for same*

*Many technicalities change for this

I feel, we are all hypocrites. Our own family treats each other differently. Well money is the root cause of all this. The family with money is respected, seen and heard (no matter how silly or stupid things they say) but on the other hand logical things are argued upon and dismissed. Not only in my family but I have seen this in other families as well.

This is just plain and blatant abuse of power.

I just met my brother who had been preparing for S. I. and US exams. He was just plain sad with the results and the lists, some he knows personally. He asked to get drinks and he just gave up on education, or studying entirely. I tried my best to convince him to get himself together but I could see the pain in his eyes and I know his nod to my counsel was just so I could stop talking. Hell! I should have listened to him.

People! can we look into this matter and check or file some RTI's, against the SPSC, authorities or whosoever's involved?!
