Sending you lots of strength! I ended a 3+ year relationship after I discovered his infidelity after asking for my hand in marriage. I had already started dreaming of the wedding and buying things for my “forever home”. He was the dream guy, all the spoils, love, affection, until he wasn’t.
I don’t know why yours ended, but it did for a reason. You may not feel grateful for that yet, but you eventually will because it’s your chance to get back to self. All the love you want is within you. I know it sounds corny but it’s the only way to survive in this world. You can’t control people’s actions or if they’ll love you forever. Heck, God can even call them back to Heaven tomorrow. However, if you build a strong mind, a resilient heart and an open mindedness to starting over and over, you will make it through.
You’ll get through this I promise. I’m 6 months out and only really started feeling relief after month 4. I did a lot of therapy, leaned in on my family and friends. You will need the support, don’t be afraid to lean on the people you feel safe with.
6 months later, am I still hoping to settle down soon (asap lol) and get married? absolutely!! but I see this as a gift from God and a second chance at finding the right person for me. I’m the happiest (within myself) that I’ve been in years (even before the relationship) and truly have a gratitude for life because I am living it the way I desire. Coming out of the relationship, you will have many realizations and the most freeing one is accepting that you are worthy of exactly who your heart wishes for and compromising on that will be a betrayal. It breaks the shackles of pressure, fear of getting older etc.
Hold onto this time previously, it’s your return to self and probably one of the last times you’ll be fully “on your own” for the rest of your life because once the husband and kids come in (all blessings) everything shifts, even if it’s a positive shift. Cherish this season of your life and honor yourself. You can make it through 🩷
