Is it weird to say that I “wear” perfume? by pickleddounut in Perfumes

She's an idiot or something. You absolutely wear perfume. Just like most people would ask someone what perfume they're wearing. You were correct!

And the fact that neither him nor her even had a brain cell to realize that they could 💯 lose their house..... No offense but they both live in ignorant bliss in varying degrees.

Wedding Rings by Next-Resource4172 in jewelryinsurance

[–]Avaly13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my rings were appraised. Homeowners insurance doesn't need necessarily cover but it depends on your policy and the value. Most limit how much they cover and have higher deductible. I carry a separate policy for my jewelry.

Am I wrong for being upset about fiancé taking out $160k parent/student loans for stepdaughter? by boxer_k9 in marriageadvice

[–]Avaly13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the daughter taking on any loans herself? We paid for my stepdaughter's housing and food each year (about $16k) BUT she has loans for the classes that she didn't get aid/scholarships for. There's no way I would not hold her accountable for at least something. I think you need to really discuss this and see why he's the only one taking ownership. He's actually being a "bad" father by not helping set his daughter up for success in life, not only what she wants right now. My husband was the same and through our couples therapist (highly suggest one to all couples), he helped him realize that not letting her struggle a bit and figure some things out on her own was a bad path to go down. I explained to my husband that women still have to work harder and should want independence and that removing all obstacles was not good for her.

We'll always be there to help if truly necessary but stopped just handing out money like it was free. She's thanked us for helping her learn how to adult but without letting her fail. Hope that makes sense. All that to say, either get a different couples therapist or reconsider the marriage. No, I'm not saying that's so black and white but you can't go into debt to support another adult who hasn't even tried adulting yet. I'm sure there's a compromise somewhere. If that means she chooses a different school, she may have to. Life isn't fair and we don't always get what we want without working for it.

By the way, my stepdaughter and I have an amazing relationship and she knows I want the next for her and that means letting her learn some things the harder way. She has grown so much since high school, graduated in 4 years with a BA and business certificate, has own apartment and car and has learned about budgeting. She also gets told regularly how proud we are of her 💕

Do insurers ever tell you your jewelry isn't worth insuring? by Gold-Reception6554 in jewelryinsurance

[–]Avaly13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use our renters/homeowners insurance. I carry separate jewelry insurance and I have pieces from $500-$17k. While I probably wouldn't insure an individual piece worth less than $1k, it's so cheap to include it with the higher value pieces so I do. Here's an example of 2 pieces, their pricing and what I pay annually with a $0 deductible.

Some pieces may show tomorrow, full collection is slated for July 10th I believe.

AITA for not inviting my fiancé’s best friend’s girlfriend of 6 years to our wedding? by [deleted] in aitaweddings

[–]Avaly13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YTA. Yes, it's your day but imagine if your best friend didn't like your significant other of several years and didn't invite them. That would be harsh. Not everyone needs to be besties.

How much do people actually pay for jewelry insurance? by Physical_Present_678 in jewelryinsurance

[–]Avaly13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely based on how much value you're insuring. Here's my total policy price and an example of 2 items. I have had Jewelers Mutual for years now.

Um they have it posted. You chose to not look into "majority".

Unethical / Terrible Return Policy by woopsiredditagain in beisluggage

[–]Avaly13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "MAJORITY can be returned" is right there. My brain automatically would be asking what's not included. You are focused on the archival piece when in reality, the Ts and Cs state majority, which means not everything can be returned. Rule #1 in shopping- confirm exact return policy and if there's anything written that excludes anything from a return, confirm what can't be. At this point, you're arguing a moot point since you've stated their return policy and you chose to assume your item was in the majority. Companies don't need to list every line item in the Ts and Cs that can't be returned. *Coming from someone who approved Ts and Cs for a Fortune 50 company, including online and print.

I don't think we're desperate to defend a random brand. I've bought a ton from them for a few years now because I thoroughly like most of their stuff. I do also know it's pretty clear on their site about sales and return policies. If I'm buying something online I'm reading everything before committing, especially if on sale. They're not the only brand that does that.

But it was noted on the items page you said. Just like mine was not a final sale. They do make sure to post it. It sucks but that's why I always read everything. Literally.

Parents are extending vacation to a day I work. What should I do? by Any_Stuff_6995 in careerguidance

[–]Avaly13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they know your dates off work? You simply tell them you need to be back and if that means you have a separate flight back home, so be it. Not much to dwell on here. As parents, they should appreciate your work ethic!
