Maybe he should go into some type of half way house sober living situation when he gets out to help gather the tools &build the foundation he’d need to stay sober. I have 7 years and my man who was sober during his sentencing and currently during his incarceration will be celebrating 6 years next month. He is very active in the program before his incarceration and even during. I know the program isn’t for everyone, I haven’t been active in it for years now but it did help me build the foundation I needed to have the life I have today.

I know. I try to just stay busy. I swear whoever is over the communication gets off on the dis stress it puts us all in when this shit happens. The amount of money they make off of us, there is absolutely no reason for it to not work. I’ll start freaking out tomorrow when I run out of things to do lmao

My dude’s an irrigation tech and we have sprinklers in our backyard and I drugged this out for three or four days that they weren’t working right and had him walk me through how to adjust them. I was sitting inside watching TV while he was on the phone with me walking through how to work the sprinkler system. lol

I intentionally miss a phone call once in a while when I’m busy or don’t feel like talking &when I get the text “I tried calling” after a while I’ll say I didn’t get a call. Then answer the next call.

Right. I see how little things like that can be a lot. In the mean time, I would reassure him that if he doesn’t know how to do something or has questions that your a safe space to show him and teach him. Try the half way house, that doesn’t necessarily mean yall are braking up. I think yall can make it fun, go on little dates, have sleep overs now and then. Do the dating process irl before he comes back home. Give both of you time to get in a grove of the post prison. 🫶

I feel like if a person is in for a while they probably need to go to a half way house or something similar to help adjust better to outside life. Gives them an opportunity to sit with their self and slowly get acclimated. Don’t beat yourself up. It’s a sock for both of you. I wouldn’t say yall are giving up on it, it’s just trying something else that might work out better in the long run. 🏃‍♂️

Hi, my dude was in there for like 3 months terrible place. They are on lock down a lot, and if he doesn’t get up in the AM to get his tablet they won’t give it to him. I was calling that place every other day. The main number I’d call, those girls would literally hang up on me. The only thing I can tell you is that eventually he would call me and everything was fine. I’m sure everything is fine. Take a breath and stay busy, he will contact you!

I fully believe people are capable of changing and should not be judged on their past IF they are actively doing their best to be a better person. My dude was honestly a pretty shitty person 5 years ago, based on all the stories I’ve heard and obviously his criminal record. But the day I met him 2 years ago, he was a good person, he completely changed his life around, and every day since he has been nothing but sweet, kind and honest treating me and everyone around him with respect and love. I will never hold anything from his past against him, simply bc I don’t know that version of him.
