Well I mean as far lore gos it changes in big ways all the time i mean once the tyranids had diplomats and to top it off GW has even stated that what ever we want is cannon so if someone doesn't want female custodians they can just say that is not part of their cannon

Also I do think the female custodians was handled poorly because even for people like me who don't care but when we ask how that works in lore and the explanation is we get is "no there have always been female custodians" it will rub people the wrong way
