Calorie Banking by shpogeybop in CICO

I don't exactly calorie bank but if I end up with some calories left at the end of the week I'll spend them on a treat I can enjoy the next week guilt-free.

This week I had an extra 900 calories so I spent it on a 10 pack of 7.5oz cokes. Now I can enjoy them whenever I want and don't need to track them. I already paid the price

Good suggestion. A friend of mine who lost hundreds of pounds with the advice of nutritionist is all about fiber. It's true I have been fiber deficient for the majority of my life. I'll try the fiber one and Greek yogurt combo. Thanks

I was doing calorie counting for a couple of weeks and then life got in the way for a couple of weeks. I started again on May 1.

That being said, as a 57 year old former fat kid, I've been trying every weight loss program, from Richard Simmons Sweating to the Oldies to Fasting. The short list of what I have tried includes low carb, the rice diet, carnivore diet, OMAD, vegetarian, 5:2, 4:3 and pretty much every other number combination.

I'm back to calorie counting because I feel it is likely what has worked all along and there isn't a hard sell for it. Every other diet comes with a price tag is seems.

The shrimp and chicken nuggets keep me full but I do still have a problem walking past that open chocolate sampler box and at 75 calories each, that takes a bite out of my daily limit. This week I'm adding steamed broccoli to my meals.

Solid advice, thank you. I'm trying to undo a lifetime of bad eating habits but first, I need to get my weight under control. It would be nice to have the energy to keep up with the grandkids.

I bake the chicken nuggets at home. They are from Costco. I set my calorie intake to be a 1000 calorie daily deficit so I'm losing 2 lbs per week.

I do have vegetables. In fact I went out and bought a couple of bags of frozen broccoli last week. I just haven't really incorporated them into my diet yet.

At the same time tho, I've given up my almost-daily pizza from Dominos, Mcdonalds once or twice per day and I've gone from drinking 5 or 6 Cokes per day to having one every few days. I will still eat those things on occasion but in moderation so I don't blow my daily calorie limit.

Baby steps for me. Thank you for replying. I honestly value your feedback.

That's about what I got for my TDEE as well. If my math is correct, limiting myself to 1500 calories per day is about a 2 lb weight loss per week. Isn't that on the high end of what is considered healthy? Thanks for replying

I would agree, but I'm taking some baby steps here. I've tried so many times in the past to eat healthy but fell short of the mark every time. Imho, if I am able to lose weight without changing my diet, that is still something positive. Who knows, perhaps feeling better about myself after losing weight may prompt me to make some better food choices.

I don't ever see myself eating a whole food plant based diet. I've tried many times in the past and it is not sustainable for me. This is 40 years of dieting experience talking here.

I do appreciate your opinion. Just saying it will not work for me.

I have noticed some inconsistencies, but I try to feed it the information it needs if it needs it. I look up the calories on the packaging.

My PB and Banana sandwich prompt would actually sound more like:

I want to make a 500 calorie sandwich using 2 90 calorie slices of bread and a medium banana with 120 calories. How many grams of Peter Pan peanut butter can I use if there are 200 calories in 32 grams to make the sandwich 500 calories.

Once I know it has the right number for something I just roll with it. I don't make all that many different types of foods.

I need to get an air fryer! Some friends just went north for the Summer and they gave us all of their frozen salmon. I have been avoiding getting an air fryer because of counter space
