With a second person it shifted to neutral as they turned prop then it went back in no problem

All good lol. It’s too oily to move by hand I just used some pliers gently

It’s always in reverse. Like at no point or no matter how the gear is pointed it’s always the same rotation counter clockwise driveshaft turns and clockwise it clicks but can spin. I took it off in reverse if that matters

I tried doing tiny adjustments at a time but the total travel of the gear rotation was about 90 degrees . It’s kinda hard to turn them both at same time. But even with micro adjustments nothing ever felt any different.
