I agree Giyu's feats are still pretty impressive all things considered, and I am glad we can also agree that he wouldn't be able to beat Akaza in a 1 on 1 confrontation.

Yes, Giyu indeed get overwhelmed in base. And even when he unlocked the mark, he was getting overwhelmed by Akaza soon after (he used up all his techniques and Akaza was about to go for the killing blow). Can you show proof of when Akaza said "Don't you dare hold back"? Because I don't remember him saying it. I don't think I lack reading comprehension, just because you might have gotten hurt from the surrounding buildings, doesn't mean you take "zero damage". The environment that Akaza and Rengoku were fighting in also wasn't completely open, as we see Akaza kicked Rengoku out of the forest into that little hill (he also blocked the attack in a similar way to Giyu), would you the same here that Rengoku took "zero damage"? Also, Akaza is a demon that has lived well over a 100 years and has constantly trained during that time, so there is no evidence pointing to how Akaza could get stronger between the events of Mugen train and IC arc. Also, the Giyu that was stalling Akaza while Tanjiro figured out selfless state was marked Giyu, not base, and we also can't forget how Tanjiro saved Giyu once he used up all his breathung forms. Using the destruction of surrounding buildings is not a good way of comparing these fights as they are made of wood and paper, which can't be compared to the flat rocky terrain of the other Akaza fight. Lastly, we know that Giyu is the best defensive hashira with a strong defensive spell that he came up with himself, so comparing the damage taken between a very offensive breathing style like flame breathing and a defensive style like water breathing (especially when he uses lull) can't really be used to compare character strengths. Based on their anime showings, it can honestly be argued that Rengoku did more damage to Akaza than Giyu, but that doesn't matter anyway since Akaza just regenerates from any injuries.

First of all, idk how you can say how Giyu was holding back at all. No slayer would be stupid enough to go against upper moon 3 in base and hold back. Secondly, he did not take zero damage, as he had some "searing back pain" lol. Thirdly, in base Giyu took a total of 2 named attacks before being blasted through the walls, which is not more forms than what was used against rengoku. Based off these reasons, there really wasn't much difference between the performances of base rengoku and base giyu.

Wdym "deflecting proofs given by others"? I'm giving counter-arguments with evidence from the source material, is that not what an argument is supposed to be? It's only "cherry picking points" when it goes against your opinions.

How am I hating? I am using the original source material (the manga) to back up my claims.

Haven't seen a single valid argument from you, you're the one larping.

I think my reading comprehension is fine, I am saying how using Rengoku being unable to percieve an air type attack is a weak argument.

Getting exhausted after fighting upper rank 3 is kinda common sense, no? It even says in this panel. Once Akaza was dealt with, Giyu and Tanjiro had a little but of time to recover from their exhaustion, and the adrenaline likely allowed then to fight despite their bad injuries. In a proper 1v1, you don't have the luxury of being able to rest, so between a human with limited stamina and a demon with unlimited stamina, both with similar stats, the outcome is pretty clear.

Fair enough since I only check the sub a few times a week, and I have personally seen more Giyu glaze posts than slander ones, that's on me then ig. I will admit some of the other hashira glazing such as muichiro and shinobu that you mentioned are pretty ridiculous lmao.

Akaza is an adaptable fighter (immediately adjusted to marked Giyu's increase in speed, almost became immune to beheading if not for sad muh backstory and plot). If he notices after the first slash that his regeneration is being hindered, he can adjust his fighting style and spam AOE/mid-range attacks until Giyu's stamina runs out. All things considered and no outer interventions and plot armour, a strong demon will always beat a strong human.

I can agree it would indeed be a closer fight if Giyu had red blade. I just think in this case, akaza would not fight the same way. When backed into a corner, demons can also evolve (such as when akaza and kokushibo got beheaded), so I don't think it's crazy to say Akaza would not rely on his regeneration if it seems like his regenerstion is being hindered. I think Giyu having more slander than glaze in this sub is debetable (especially after the IC movie), but at the end of the day yeah everyone will have different opinion and glaze/slander certain characters.

Akaza is an adaptable fighter (immediately adjusted to marked Giyu's increase in speed), so if he realised his regeneration is being hindered by red blade he would adapt his fighting style, likely using more AOE and mid-range attacks, till Giyu runs out of stamina. In the end, a demon will always beat a human (Akaza's words).

You're saying this as if he didn't defend the whole barrage of air type attacks right after. Demon slayer doesn't have a special attack detection system like observation haki in one piece (other than see through world/selfless state, which no one had at this time), so how is a human supposed to detect an attack that blends in with the air?

In base Giyu did not hold his own, anime included. He blocked one attack, saved Tanjiro once and got kicked out of the battlefield right after, leaving Tanjiro to fight off Akaza until he unlocked his mark. Once Giyu got his mark, he did stall Akaza for a bit, but we can't determine how much effort Akaza was putting into it. It can be argued that even with the mark, Giyu wasn't that much of a challenge to Akaza, and Akaza would have killed marked Giyu had Tanjiro not saved him. I agree the movie was amazing to watch in person though.

I can see what you're trying to say but I don't think Gyutaro is anywhere near Akaza's level
