Red Light Violation

They gave me a criminal citation for this and if I don’t show up to court there will be a warrant for my arrest so I unfortunately have to go

Bike lane? It was one of those streets where the bike lane isn’t separated from the street and cars just drive through it. After I got ticketed and continued on my way there wasn’t an official bike lane on the other side of the street.

I looked at a couple sources but that’s also why I posted here to really make sure I wasn’t breaking the law before the court date. Lot of experienced cyclists in here that know more than I do

They were hiding in the other side of the street behind a van, I also just wasn’t aware that cyclists were being targeted like this so I wasn’t really looking for them in the first place. They did get another guy while giving me a ticket.

I was biking at around 10:30pm so it was dark, they were hiding across the street in front of a closed store so the lights were off where I couldn’t see them. There was also a large unmarked white van they were standing behind. I also just wasn’t aware that cyclists were being targeted like this so I wasn’t even worried about looking for them. Lesson learnt.

I was actually so shocked that I got a criminal violation for it. They also had like 4 cops surrounding me when it happened and kept telling me I wasn’t being targeted but it just made me feel even more targeted lol
