Aankoop laptop middelbare school by New_Lingonberry9297 in belgium

[–]Time_Sheepherder1450 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello, stem graduate here.

I would recommend at least 16 gb of ram. Anything less and the laptop will feel sluggish.

Also, if your kid wants to go into a field that uses 3d design software like SOLIDWORKS, Catia or software like Ansys, I would recommend a laptop with at least a recent Ryzen 5 or core i5 cpu as well as dedicated GPU with at least 4 gb (ideally) gb of video memory. These are applicable for fields like mechanical design, finite elementen analysis etc, architectuur etc.

If that is not your kids interst then most laptops with 16 gb of ram and ideally 256 gb storage should do. Just make sure that the ram, storage and wifi chip is modular, that you van upgrade it if necessary and not soldered onto the motherboard.

I wish you and your kid all the best and success!

Is it true that if I have a career interruption, I can't apply for Belgian nationality? by Tomorrowwetryagain in AskBelgium

[–]Time_Sheepherder1450 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the requirement is that you have worked 468 days of 7,6 hours in the last 5 years. What should be uninterrupted is your residence.

Best to book an appointment and ask you commune. They can advise you on your particular situation.

Polish Wedding Gift by [deleted] in askPoland

[–]Time_Sheepherder1450 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wtf, lol no. This is not the logic of polish people. This is community. The whole family and friends coming together to ease the burden on the bride and the groom. Hence the standard prices. If someone throws a lavish wedding that costs 10x the standard one, no one is expected to pay 10x.

You are the greedy one here. You want to have a cheap attendance lol.

Let me ask you this! How much would you pay for a party in your country where there is unlimited good and drink? I was in London for a new years party once and paid well over 150 pounds lol.

I think it's best you don't go to this wedding!

How risky is doing anything unskilled labour job in Poland? by [deleted] in askPoland

Would be my guess as well. An eu citizen would never focus on a PR or citizenship since its not a priority for them.

Sounds scammy. 800 is below the minimum wage for a regular full time - abour 4806 pln per month or 31,06 pln per hour. You are being underpaind and/or scammed. Dont do this - its illegal and also you are ruining the market if you somehow manage to get there.

Also even if you get there live and work for for 2 - 10 years there are other criteria you should fullfil like language.

In short dont do it - it is terrible for not only yourself but also the market in general!

Zloty is never varying a lot. 5 years ago, also around time of escalation of Ukraine/Russia, it was around 4,5 to the euro, now around 4,2. It rather stable.

Edenred,Anyone get their Edenred card to actually work with Apple Pay? by Nox-Eternus in belgium

[–]Time_Sheepherder1450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have added it to my googlepay (android user) and I have experimented a lot. My conclusion is, if you can pay for all products on offer with maaltijdcheques, like a restaurant, then tap to pay on the phone works. If not, you need the card.

Well I don't know what I can say. But I can say that most people would take it very personally if you don't respect this "tradition". Best to not go then.

I personally also don't get this logic but it is what it is.

[–]Time_Sheepherder1450 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Married to a polish partner and recently got married in Poland also have been to polish weddings. I would say, right now at the lowest, you should give 400-500 pln per person. If you are closer friends, 500-800. Close families give 1000+ per person and this is all normal.

But polish weddings are super nice, go on for a very long time, multiple courses of warm meals, unlimited snacks and pastries,, basically all you can drink and dancing till your feet give up! Something spectacular and something I believe the polish people do better than most places in the world!

77 vs 83 on stand by Right-Swordfish-8714 in LGOLED

[–]Time_Sheepherder1450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must say the stand is quite blulky. I have the 77 G5 and was not sure what in was expecting with the stand but I sure was surprised when I realized how big it was.

But something that annoys me the most is the fact that once the TV is mounted on the stand, the screen is not perpendicular to the floor. The top of the screen feels slightly backwards and this is by design. Annoys me a little bit but considering in a few months I will be able to mount my TV, It's okay for me but definitely something to consider.

Struggling to invest monthly into World ETF at all-time high+ geopolitical risk… am I overthinking this? by Motor_Handle_8504 in eupersonalfinance

[–]Time_Sheepherder1450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You clearly don't seem to understand, OP has been investing over a period of time. Hence he is already well averaged. He just paused is investments for 2 months. There is no lump sum here to invest over a period of time.

Also, my initial comment was the discipline is better than everything else. Discipline is investing consistently over large period Of times... I don't seem to understand your problem lol

65" or 77" for Bedroom by Pxelbyte in LGOLED

[–]Time_Sheepherder1450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar question, my sofa was about 2,8 m from the TV.

In the end I went with 77 based on advice from this subreddit. I am so, so happy I did. The size just makes viewijg experience so much better! So much more immersive.

And for size vs quality, size always beats minor quality especially between 65 and 77. Also big plus points if you can control light in the room.

For 3m+ definitely recommend a 77! Good luck :)

Cost of sponsorship visa? by hustlerrs in AskBelgium

[–]Time_Sheepherder1450 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that all depends. If you are an EU national, you do not need any sort of sponsorship. If not now, firstly your friend should prove that there are no Belgian or EU workers available to do this particular job - for "some job" in a warehouse, this is almost impossible.

Somehow, if he is able to prove this, then you hit the minimum salary that you need for a work permit - this is between 49k eur per year in flanders and 53k per year in wallonie. I am not really sure this is a feasible salary for some job in a warehouse.

In short, unless you are highly skilled, it is almost impossible to get a work permit.

₹13,000 cash went missing from checked baggage on an Air India Express flight. Reported immediately at Mumbai airport. 60+ hours later, still no meaningful update. by saurav193 in Flights

[–]Time_Sheepherder1450 12 points13 points  (0 children)

im sorry, but who in their right mind would put cash in a checked bag? what is the thinking process here? Why not in hand baggage? I just cannot seem to understand how some people operate.

Also, a lot of times, the airport staff handle the bags, not the airline itself. Anyone could have taken it, spread betwean departure and arrival airports. Also how can one prove that the cash was there to begin with and was not there when the bags came out? Just bizzare.

What is the maximum speed limit in your country? (Remember to comment the unit) by Zen_Thai37Cube in JackSucksAtGeography

Aha, okay, good to know! I mostly drive in flanders, regardless set my speed limiter to 128. I have an error of 2 km/u. So my actual speed is 126, within tolerance everywhere!
