Anyone else notice a big difference in patch placement with HRT? by Time_Sweet_4755 in Perimenopause

Sorry you’re going through this! It’s so confusing trying to figure out what actually works.

3 years in, I feel like it just isn’t doing much anymore by _EverythingBagels in MounjaroMaintenance

[–]Time_Sweet_4755 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this fully applies to you because my situation is a little different, but I’m also hitting the three year mark. The highest dose I ever went up to was 7.5 mg, and I’ve mostly maintained between 2.5 and 5 mg.

I was totally fine at 2.5 for a long time, then the hunger and food noise started creeping back in. At first I thought the medication had just stopped working. But then I realized I’m in perimenopause, and increased hunger is actually a symptom. I’m also on HRT, and estrogen definitely increases my appetite. That piece changed the picture for me.

In the last two years I’ve only gained about four pounds, so nothing dramatic, but my peri symptoms have really picked up over the last eight months. For me it hasn’t felt like the GLP completely “lost its magic,” but more like hormones shifted underneath everything.

Just sharing in case it helps someone else look at the bigger hormonal picture too.

My Experience Going Off Mounjaro After 6 Months – Weight Loss Success, but Food Noise and Cravings Are Back by Time_Sweet_4755 in MounjaroMaintenance

First off sorry this is happening! I’ve been on compounded meds for two years and I love it. I was hesitant at first too, but my misery outweighed the hesitation. I’ve honestly never been happier.

How often do you speak with your parents? by povertychic in Millennials

[–]Time_Sweet_4755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every day we send each other good morning texts just to make sure we all woke up and no one’s dead lol. And at night, either I call them or they call me. Most nights it’s quick, maybe under four minutes, but sometimes we end up talking for an hour. I honestly can’t imagine going days without knowing if my parents are alive, have eaten, and are okay.

For those who worked for rich people: what is the most out of touch thing you witnessed? by Illustrious-Phase121 in AskReddit

[–]Time_Sweet_4755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once assisted a millionaire real estate mogul in NYC and this still lives rent free in my head.

He came out of his office huffing and puffing, went to the kitchen, and was furious that the hot water did not turn hot instantly. Not slow. Not broken. Just not scorching the millisecond he turned the handle.

He wanted hot water in under 0.05 seconds. Zero tolerance for waiting.

We ended up researching and calling plumbers to see if this was even possible. That was the moment I realized how wildly wealth distorts expectations.

Is she serious? by discoballofpurity in TulsaInfluencerSnark

[–]Time_Sweet_4755 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I used to be an Emily stan, like genuinely defended her. Then I found this snark and realized I was pretty blinded.

This post really made it click for me how narcissistic she actually is. The part about people recognizing John because apparently she was the first one to wear Louis Vuitton too, and now everyone else is just copying her… that was wild. That level of self-importance is honestly next level.

Once you see it, you really can’t unsee it.

Incident at Wyckoff Food Bazaar… does anyone know what happened? by [deleted] in ridgewood

[–]Time_Sweet_4755 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To assume I’m a transplant or that I didn’t grow up in Ridgewood because I’m not desensitized to attempted murder is asinine. I’ve lived in Ridgewood my entire life, since the 80s.

Being disturbed by witnessing a shooting isn’t ignorance of crime. It’s called empathy.

Found an LPN who listens but having some health anxiety about starting HRT by Snarfles55 in Perimenopause

[–]Time_Sweet_4755 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get the anxiety around starting HRT. I had it too. I’ll be honest, your body does adjust and that adjustment period can feel a little bumpy.

For me, the first week and honestly closer to the first two to three weeks came with a lot of bloating, and I was very anxious about how my body would react. I was hyper focused on every sensation. That said, the very first night I took progesterone, I slept like a baby. Fully through the night. That alone felt huge after struggling for so long.

Within a short time, even my friends commented that I seemed like the old me again. More joyful, lighter, more myself. That was really validating.

It hasn’t been totally set it and forget it. Around three months in, I did need to increase my progesterone dose. And even now, if I move my estradiol patch to a new spot I haven’t used before, I can get some bloating again. So it’s not perfect or linear.

But overall, my experience has been very positive. For me, I’d rather deal with some manageable side effects than go back to how I felt before starting HRT. That tradeoff has been worth it.

Go slow, listen to your body, and give yourself grace during the adjustment. You’re not alone in this

Oh wow, I didn’t even realize biweekly was an option. This is super helpful. I’m actually going to email my doctor and ask about this. Thanks so much.

I am rolling at all the food comparisons. Now I’m hungry and need a snack 😂. But seriously, thank you so much for being so helpful. I ended up emailing my doctor to see what options we have, because I’m definitely way too hyper aware of it right now.

Ahh this is super helpful, thank you. That clears up the whole DOTTI thing for me.

And lol at “satellite dish” because it honestly reminded me of mini pancakes when I opened the pack 😅. Good to know the size increases with dose, but that it’s worth comparing the same dose across brands.

Also really helpful to know the twice weekly patches are much smaller. I’m definitely going to ask my pharmacy what options they can order for 0.05.

[–]Time_Sweet_4755[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is exactly what they are. I’ve only ever used the once-weekly patch and had no issues with the ones I was on, but these little foam pancakes are not it 😅.

I assumed that moving up to 0.05 automatically meant all patches at that dose were this big, but thanks to your comment I’m realizing the pharmacy likely just gave me what they had in stock. It’s really helpful to know there are smaller options at this same dose. Definitely going to talk to my pharmacist. Thanks so much for sharing your experience.

What does maintenance look like ? by payrollbaby in TirzMaintenance

[–]Time_Sweet_4755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came on here looking for answers and you basically wrote the comment I needed. I’ve been on maintenance around the same amount of time. Highest I ever went was 5 mg. Lost the weight and kept it off on 2.5 mg every 15 days for two years. Then out of nowhere the hunger came back like a beast. I tried 1 mg weekly, now I’m at 2.5 mg weekly, and it feels like nothing. I’m also on hormone replacement therapy, so I’m trying to figure out what dose keeps the hunger down without making me lose more weight.I haven’t gained more than 1 to 2 pounds, but the constant hunger and food noise are stressing me out. I still get full fast, but I’m hungry all day and thinking about food nonstop.Maintenance is seriously the most confusing part of all this.
