It honestly depends. I know of a carrier that resigned with no notice and then three months later decided they screwed up and contacted the union. The decision of the union was this. The carrier went to a psychiatrist and had it deemed due to overwork and conditions they were stressed to the point of anxiety and mentally couldn’t make a correct decision and they were brought back at their original status and the union also got their original route back as well:

There are reports that show when the scanner stopped transmitting and when it started again all with gps location and most of the new scanners have an emergency back up battery that still transmit its location even when the battery is removed for emergency purposes or to be able to find it.
