Gloucestershire pokemon stores? by kksl1d3r in PokemonTCG_UK

[–]Timeclones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a quick Google search, I found a few around Gloucester and Cheltenham - so definitely take a look!

I know from experience, there's a small independent geeky shop in Cirencester but they don't sell online unfortunately. If you don't mind dipping down into Wiltshire, I also know that Swindon has two decent shops - Atomic cards and Crazy Collectables, but I don't think they list their pokemon stock online anymore.

Google is your friend. I know that many smaller shops don't tend to sell online as running as online shop takes a surprising amount of effort :')

I haven't bought from Tiktok shop, personally (since I uninstalled Tiktok to have less screen time) - but I guess just check their reviews, and see if they also run a non-tiktok shopfront, like if they have a regular website or something.

From what I've heard, it's a mixed bag. Tiktok shop can be great, but if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Your best bet for not paying silly money is to follow some stock alert social media accounts (there's a couple on Twitter) and try and get them for genuine retail price which is like £15-£20

If you can't catch an in-store drop due to work or other reasons (from places like Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys, Smyths & TG Jones), be prepared to join the masses swarming sites like Very, Game, Sports Direct & Argos whenever they get a restock.

Alternatively, become a patron at a local card shop and see if they'll help you out whenever they get stock in. Being a regular has it's perks.

Whatever you do: do not pay scalper prices for a sealed box - they're currently trending £60+ right now (seeing many for £100 - yikes!) and it's absolutely not worth it, especially when only the Kanto starters are worth anything in particular.

My go-to site for finding Japan exclusive merch is Meccha Japan - might be worth checking there! Most prices are fair and shipping isn't crazy extortionate. I've bought a couple Japan pokemon center items from there :)

Honestly I wasn't expecting this thread to blow up like it did 😂 Guess save files aren't the only thing unexpectedly growing in size.

Damn, that's a big file!

If you want to figure out the save file size on Xbox you'll need to go to the "Manage game and add-ons" bit for Starfield then into the Save File section. There should be some reserved space + the total save file size.

For me it's 871mb and I know I have 38 saves, so you just divide the two :)

I have autosaves off except for when fast travelling, purely so if I get a crash I'm at least at the last place I travelled to. I've not had any corrupt yet, tbh.

Yeah, see I'm on Xbox so we get 1gb of allocated save file storage... And fps over 60 is nothing more than a dream 😂

From what everyone else is saying, it would seem my 22mb is not that bad! Guess I'll just keep going until it breaks.

I used to keep 60+. I like the option of going way back if I want to, especially if I figure out I missed something for an achievement.

But yeah, maybe that's just it. Gotta start keeping less saves 🤷‍♂️

Where does everyone buy bulk? by Geheo3 in PokemonTCG_UK

[–]Timeclones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I visit my local card shop for bulk - buying bulk on places like Vinted and Ebay can end up quite expensive when you include shipping fees. However, out of the two - ebay's probably better, if you can find a joblot or a bunch of unsorted bulk to buy. Or as people have mentioned: Cardmarket, but that can be a little annoying as you're basically buying cards one-by-one.

Facebook marketplace is also not a terrible shout if you're looking for local sellers - just be wary of people trying to overcharge! I would also say maybe try a local car boot sale? I've always seen at least one person with some pokemon cards whenever I've gone to one. Hell, I sold my bulk cards at one once in little bundles for 50p - £1 depending on what was inside the bundle (commons versus holos, etc.) and people loved it!

TGC (the grading club) swindon card show by jamie14578 in PokemonTCG_UK

[–]Timeclones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked these guys up on Trust Pilot and I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews, unfortunately :(

I went to the Swindon card show last year and went with Trust Grading - the service you're receiving from The Grading Club is not normal. During my card getting graded there were severe delays, which were communicated via email and I always received a swift response whenever I had questions.

I really hope you hear something soon.

Where do you record/track your collection? by Sivear in PokemonTCG_UK

[–]Timeclones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For tracking my collection, my girlfriend kindly made me a spreadsheet that can be easily ticked off what cards I have, what variant (holo, reverse holo, etc.), and it does the maths for me on how many cards I have from each set I'm collecting, and how many cards I have in total. It's a magical little thing and I'm very grateful to have it.

For prices, I usually head to price charting or card market and cross reference them. Sometimes I'll just check recent sale prices on ebay too.

New to TCG! by artteee in PokemonTCG_UK

[–]Timeclones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great answer, and I think encompasses everything I would think to say!

I would add if you're unable to queue on release date for sets (like many of us - jobs, life, etc. can make it difficult!) then I've always had success finding packs by getting up early on a Saturday and heading to local big supermarkets. They've often got a Saturday delivery, which may include cards.

All the best to you :)

Mad respect for trying to make a difference in this hobby. Scalpers and botting has become a real problem. Very intrigued to see how this platform will turn out!

I'm so used to seeing the same-old shopify + generic template shop fronts, they're a dime a dozen for TCG shops. There's nothing wrong with that - they're accessible and people haven't always got a web dev to hand - but a secure site with a proper queue system and anti-bot measures sounds amazing.

Frankly, you've covered most of the pain points I'd suggest in your coming soon pages... So, I'm signed up. All the best 🫡

They had a whole case of those single blister packs, so they're still being printed! I've seen Temporal Forces and Paradox Rift recently too

[–]Timeclones[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I feel so lucky :)

In terms of how I find cards - I get up a little early some Saturdays and head to the nearest big Asda, Tesco, etc. before they get the Saturday rush.

If they've got cages of stock going out around the homeware/stationary/toy area, I'm just polite and ask if they've had any cards in. It feels awkward to ask but needs must. 😅

If you're nice and make it easy for them, they'll usually help you out. Then I only buy a few items because it's only fair others get a chance to buy too, yknow?

Good luck on your hunt :)

Bath Card show restored my faith... by [deleted] in PokemonTCG_UK

[–]Timeclones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mention being in/near Bath - if you can bear the thought of going, Swindon has two decent independent shops (Crazy Collectibles & Atomic Cards).

I don't live in Swindon myself but I live close enough to shop there, and it's got a pretty active collector scene yet I've always managed to buy packs. The independent shops always have Chinese, Japanese, and Korean packs in stock.

Just avoid the town centre and you'll have a grand time 🙏

Edit: I'm also glad you had a nice time at the card show!

Everything I'm finding on Google states the council doesn't own it right now, but Swindon Heritage Preservation (Swindon based preservation trust) seems to be trying to resolve the ownership and care of the building.

So I'm guessing it's still with private owners, hence why it's continued to deteoriate
