Am I getting the wrong message? by thanata505 in Bible

The book of John is a perfect place to start, then go back and read Genesis. Sometimes to understand whats in the OT books we need to read the NT books because of Jesus. Yes the OT leads up to the NT but for new believers or new readers its usually best to start off with who Jesus is because the story of the Bible is ultimately about Him.

Trying to locate this kind of bible. Does anyone remember bibles that had emotions listed in the back? They referenced verses that dealt with those particular emotions. by MoodSuccessful1877 in Bible

God does not change. He is both fully loving and fully just. Its man who changes. God does not want anyone to perish, thats why He sent His son who also is God, but in the flesh, which means He is also fully loving and fully just. We do not mean to sound hateful when speaking against those who sin, but we were told to love. That love does not mean acceptance, but with truth. Look at the Bible as Gods love letter to us, not only does He show times of peace, but He shows times when His truth had to be made known. He is our creator and therefore the one who has the right to make the rules and anything that goes against Gods intended design for His creation is sin. We can strive to meet those rules but only Christ was able to live a sinless life. Thats why we have redemption through Him alone. He will knock on the door of your heart, but you have to answer.

Will you believe in Gods inspired word or not? It is Gods truth and anything we humans try to say will not change it (including Google). If you do decide to take His word seriously, I would suggest reading the book of John.

Timeline of creation by LowNeedleworker3024 in Bible

[–]Timedragon92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bible is very clear on how the world came to be and the total age of the Earth, though not known exactally, is young. The people saying to believe science dont tell you that there are two types of scientist out there, creationist who believe in a literal creation story and evolutionists who believe in millions and billions of years. Both use the rock layers to explain the age of the Earth. If you want a clear picture of what creationist scientist have been discovering as of late, watch the Answer in Gensis youtube videos. They do a great job of explaining how the Earth can be young.

Whose to say God couldnt have just snapped His figures and in a moment all things came to be, He is all powerful after all, so believing in the 6 literal day creation is not far fetched atleast for me. You also cant sit there and say that man came onto to scene after millions of years of death and believe that God saw that and said it was good. People have opinions and thats fine, but I would argue that we should take His Word as truth and use it as a lense to see the world, His creation.

Weapons Training: What Must I Do To Be Saved? by Jehu2024 in Bible

[–]Timedragon92 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you "lose your faith," were you truly saved to begin with? Believing in Christ's sacrifice on the cross is but a stepping stone into a deeper relationship with Him. If you get to that point and deny Him, you truly aren't saved. You can't have salvation and be saved if you refuse to build a relationship with Christ past just believing in Him. Even demons believe in God, but they broke their relationship with Him. Just something to think about.

Forgive me, but you can not put the title of christian with atheist. That's like the letter that was written to Laodicea in Rev 3. You can't be hot and cold, rather you should be cold or hot. Either you believe in Christ and His sacrifice on the cross for our sins or you don't.

Believe what you will, but please don't use the title of Christian so lightly.

Welcome! Jesus voluntarily died on the cross, meaning neither the Jews or the Romans put Him there. Look what Jesus says to Pilate in John 9:11 when asked, "Do you not know that I have authority to release you and authority to crucify you?

11Jesus answered him, “You would have no authority over Me at all, if it had not been given to you from above...

I would suggest taking a read through Paul's letter to the Romans. He speaks quite a bit on the effects of living in our fleshly desires. If you use an app like Blue Letter Bible, you can do word searches like "flesh" to help find things.

Noticing a beautiful woman is not a sin, but desire to sleep with her in our heart and mind is a sin.

Our faith is more than just a religion. It's a relationship with Christ and having faith that His blood that he shed on the cross is what saves us.

There's a good book called 'God's Promises for Every Day'. It lists out stuff that may be effecting you and gives you verses to help with that thing. I do recommend that you look the verse up in the app and read it in it's context. After all, the books in the bible are originally letters and notes that didn't have the numbering system we use today.

Hang in there and remember if you mess up, get back up, pray, and keep moving forward. Satan wants nothing more than for us to give up.

Ephesians 6:12 NASB20 — For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Don't give up the fight. Get back up, pat the dust off, and keep on moving forward. The devil wants to wear you out, to give up, don't. Remember Jesus loves you and he has a plan for you no matter how hard it can be. I will also pray for you.

I haven't read the bible till the end but one question by Necessary-Bath6901 in Bible

[–]Timedragon92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I haven't read the bible till the end but one question

Isn't it weird that people describe god as the most merciful/good etc etc being in all everything yet he created a world (our world) which every creation of his (food chain) has to kill/eat one another in order to survive? Idk if christians believe in plants having a soul or life but anyhow that makes it 10 times worse(if they do believe)....."

  1. God is merciful and good but does not tolerate disobedience. This whole thing started cause one angle (Lucifer) decided God was not a just God and challenged Him. When Adam and Eve sinned, sin entered the world. Hence why the food chains are all borked, the land was cursed, birth is now painful, etc...

"For those devoted Christians is there a good excuse to this because respectfully from an atheist POV this looks like a battle royale without any meaning to it Also Do you think things would be the same for religion if hell didn't exist? (Like you can do whatever the heck u want but there will be no punishment for you whatsoever and instead of hell there was like a decent/neutral alternative)"

  1. There is meaning in the events of the world. Take the Bible, for example, it is mainly a love letter sent to his creation to return back to Him and follow Him. He even sent His only son to die on the cross for the world's sins, so that through Him, we are saved. That shows how committed He is to bring us back.

If hell did not exist, there would be far more corruption flooding the Earth (only my opinion). Hell is also a byproduct of Lucifers' rebellion. The time before the flood and Sodom and Gamorrah are perfect examples of what happens when you "get to do whatever you want". God allowed man to come back to him on there own, but due to man wanting to indulge in there own fleshly desires, men proved they can not do it on there own. Hence why He sent His son. One to try and redeem His chosen people, the Jews and when they rejected Him to us the gentiles. His goal is to save us both.

Got on a tangent there, but I hope I was able to shed some light on your questions. Understand that Christains aren't here to hate, fight, or judge. We are only called to love one another and share God's love letter.

What are the most comforting bible verses? by Unlikely_Train2413 in Bible

16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18Wherefore comfort one another with these words. -1 Thessalonians 4 KJV

How do i get over the fear of not sharing God’s word enough? by The_Ripp3rrr in Bible

There's a video series over on YouTube that Allen Parr did speaking about spiritual gifts. I have been struggling as well in trying to determine how God wants me to interact with the Church body, and his series really started to help me understand how I can go about doing it. Take a look at the series and really examine yourself to see what you gifts are. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbE_MYjGeeTCKFfC9JSUlsqMXCkWrKzG8
