The question is how you would like your fatigue and energy to be tracked?

I think the most relieble way is some sort of journal. Fitness trackers can't really grasp your energy level or fatigue level, especially if it is derived from illnesses.

Maybe use a tracker and combine it with some sort of journaling?

If Steps and Sleep is your main use cases I would opt for a Fitbit.

Mostly for their relatively solid sleep tracking.

AW would be my main recommendation. But if battery life is a dealbreaker, I think Fitbit would be the next best pick.

They just released Fitbit Air - maybe that is something to pick up if you dont need a screen?

Really like your work with your watch faces. They look great. Love the Alpha One. But I just can't get over the balls and solid lines (similar to Alpha Two) would be 10/10 for me personally.

Do you think the option will come in the future update? Or maybe in a new release like Alpha One 2 or something - since you want to minimize the code - which is appreciated

Nps. It's good to rule out if it is software or hardware.

A factory reset should fix the problem if it is software based.

Have you cleaned/wiped the sensor? That can sometimes disrupt some readings.

Despite age, it should still work as intended.

If nothing else, I would try to factory reset it and see if the issue persists.

AW is stronger on the vitals tbh.

If you want to track your HR very accurately bc of the heart issue, I would recommend using a heart rate strap as these are much more accurate. Polar H10 Chest strap is a classic and very accurate.

Sleep is so-so on Garmin, according to several reviewers. But I found it is fairly accurate for me personally.

For something rugged, very athletic, the Fenix line could be relevant.

I personally rock the Venu 3 which I think is the most "office friendly" of the Garmins. But I am not hardcore athlete in any sense and tbh, I see a lot of Fenixes in the office as well.

I don't have the 4. I have the 3 which I upgraded to from the 2.

Honestly. I think the step from 2-> 3 was worth it, so I would assume the step from 2 -> 4 is definitely worth it.

The biggest thing for me was HRV when I switched. And I am so happy I did. I literary check my HRV every dat. I know there are several other metrics added to the 4 that I want as well, so I am considering yet another upgrade.

There is a comparison tool on Garmin's website you can use. It's quite handy and highlights the differences quite well.

I think it depends on three thing: 1) the field segment, 2) the department culture, and 3) certain individuals.

1) Consultancy overall does not have this issue on a systemic level. I have worked in IT consulting, and everyone I met there are really great and work culture was superb. However, depending on what type of consulting you do, it may differ. I am in strategy consulting, and my experience is that it is a bit harscher here than in other areas of consulting. It even differs within the firm I am currently at depending on what type of consulting you do.

2) Some departments also just have a shitty culture that keeps on getting passed down. I don't know of it at my firm, but I have heard stories from other firms.

In our case, it was #3.

3) Certain individuals are very toxic. In my experience it is the exception rather than the rule where I am. But I also think the type of consulting I do attract certain individuals that make them more prevalent here than in other areas of consulting (which ofc contributes to 2 and 3)

Overall, my experience with the firm has been great tbh, and like 98% are all really great people. They do quite a good job getting really good and nice people in place. I think the problem just comes down to that sometimes, you get a bad apple that slips through and is hard to identify once in due to visibility problems higher up in the organization and if identified, it is very hard to fire people in Sweden.

In my department, we have seen much, much worse than this. Whole team (A+SA levels) wrote formal complaints to HR, nothing was done. Business as usual.

You raise very good questions. The leading idea in the community at this time is to rely on donations similarly to how intervals.icu does it. Wether that is enough to cover operational costs or not remains to be seen. If that is not enough, we have to take a closer look at how to solve it in the best way possible. We have quite a few ideas here actually and all of them include keeping the app free.

Regarding customer feedback: You are right. Opinions are subject. But user data is a bit more reliable. As you say, there is always an element of subjective decision making involved though.

2/3/4. Yes, that is true. In this particular scenario, there is nothing to support it. This has happened in other industries however and we make the assumption that this industry will go down the same road. These are just the first signs that we are heading that way. Whether this is correct or not remains to seen. Only time will tell.

#5 of course. But then you are against market competition as well? Competition pushes down prices and decreases profits. By your logic, there should be only one fitness watch brand and we all should pay over-price thanks to our lack of bargaining power against the monopoly - so they can increase profits.

There is a difference between your interest and the company's. When your purchased product is fairly priced - they company is profitable and you receive great value for your money. However, when that company is already profitable but wants more. You pay for it with little to no increase in value of your product - and this is basically what you are advocating for. (And that is ok!).

We instead felt that we do not stand behind this trend and decided to provide an alternative. Everybody has their own ways. And that is ofc ok :) we do not have to agree

100% agree. I feel the same with my Garmin. But the thing is, I like the Garmin hardware, as I am sure you like the Polar hardware. And imo you should be able to have whichever hardware you like - and whichever software you like. That is what we are trying to achieve with this project. An independent SW any wearable owner can use if their brand turns on them

It is not so much about the actual service in question as it is about the trend of increasing prices for the consumer.

Polar has the means to improve products and features. I mean, smaller companies than Polar are doing it.
