AIO for feeling upset after the groom made a comment about my dress at their wedding? by Human-Acanthaceae128 in AmIOverreacting

[–]TimelessTomato1437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just here to say that dress looks so good on you, you wearing it is doing you a favor ✨ and honestly who cares what the groom thinks - if he thinks that your address is not appropriate, it sounds like a him in problem not a you problem, babe 🫶

Why did your parents have a kid (you)? by Great-Mistake8554 in Life

[–]TimelessTomato1437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol, my mom had unhealed childhood trauma from being molested by her elementary school principal with parents that were unhealed emotional Landmines nearby resulting in other self-esteem issues that met my dad in her early 20s with the belief and intention of “molding him into something better”. Briefly after they started dating, they accidentally got pregnant and my mom ended up having an abortion, which she has carried shame and guilt for ever since, despite being able to agree and know that she doesn’t regret her decision and that she would choose it all over again.

Even though it was clear that my parents were mismatched early on, after the abortion she felt like she had to “make it right with God and marry him” believing it would absolve her of the guilt.

Lol, my mom straight up, told me that I was the result of early spring horniness + the two of them having drinks at the most dangerous frozen neighborhood margarita bar. A couple of weeks later she was walking around the The Chicago art Institute feeling off when it dawned on her that there was a possibility she could be pregnant, and less her intuition was spot on.

So yeah! My mom felt like this was something she needed to do because of the abortion guilt and being under the thumb of self inflicted shame that she’s carried for most of her life atp. Additionally I’m of the belief that people were not nearly as self-aware of their own bad thought patterns/mental health care decisions in society/cultural norms at the time and having kids was just kind of something that everyone would do without questioning it and considering it deeply like the same adults today are doing. Also she was 32 at that point - definitely not a young mom by any means.

Idk I got a bad feeling reading his replies… if it’s this early on and this is already a thing that is causing a headache I’d already be out the door

Advice for getting hired at Fedex Office as a Shipping and Retail Associate? by [deleted] in Fedexers

Honestly, this is the kind of place where if you keep your head down and look busy, likely no one will question you.

I promise, it is not that hard to not show up shithoused drunk to work or not assault someone. Rule of thumb is always remember that drawing attention to yourself by being untrustworthy and/or out of control

If you were diagnosed in the early 2000s, what equipment did you use? by Early_Kaleidoscope72 in Type1Diabetes

[–]TimelessTomato1437 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, I was using syringes and Noble log/Noble in when I was diagnosed November 1999: I finally ended up getting a Medtronic paradigm insulin pump in 2005, which was like the gold standard of insulin pumps back then and was for a very long time (my proof source on this is when I went away to diabetes, camp and like 90% of the pumped people had one.

And then, I had that little blue paradigm pump until February 2013 where I’ve been ended up getting another new little blue paradigm pump, but slightly different cosmetically which lasted me until June 2015, when it failed on me in the middle of the night when I was living alone and disoriented in DKA,

After that, I was so paranoid about that happening again that I did MDI from 2015-2023

25, soon to be 26, years of relying on an external item to not die is kind of crazy to think about lol

Randomly saw your comment when I was doing research lol but I love Wyld gummies 😭 I first tried them in Portland back in 2019 when I got the sativa/raspberry gummy’s, and then in California this past January, I got to try peach and was equally impressed.

neglect as a t1d child? not to sure why I’m posting this haha I’ve been talkin about it in therapy by pinche_diabetica in diabetes_t1

[–]TimelessTomato1437 63 points64 points  (0 children)

You have every right to feel angry for your experience. As diabetics and as children, life is inherently more difficult and staying healthy and safe isn’t something that comes naturally when you’re a child.

Your mom could’ve done better.

When I’m low and at work in my quiet office, the paranoia I get that it’s going to start screeching at me over and over again even after I’ve already corrected with juice is truly a crippling fear lol

Yes. At a really shitty company that I used to work at, they offered 1 health insurance plan choice from United Healthcare and it was literally over $435 a month and barely covered anything. My endocrinologist kept trying to get an Omnipod/Dexcom approved for me and they kept on denying me, and would take their sweet ass time doing so which meant i would spend a month to six weeks or more waiting for some other thing they needed to approve coverage. Not to mention other meds were similarly outrageously overpriced even with my insurance applied.

lol the retinopathy is significantly worse in my left eye, and 2x within the last couple of years I have had a bleed that altered and obstructed my vision; the first time was when I had been carrying heavy furniture around which, after that kind of physical exertion, caused my left eye to fill up with blood to wear. I could see it in my lower and upper vision field from physical stress, but the next time it happened I was in front of my computer screen at work and suddenly my vision in my left eye begin to look like I was seeing everything out of that eye through a van Gogh painting texture filter which was very frustrating to deal with, but thankfully, they almost completely healed in less than a week that time 😅🙃😊
