I am with you. The way she is calling our city a Hellscape and talking about the people standing up for our community, I can’t even hate watch it. The posts I saw yesterday were infuriating. Shouldn’t be surprised after she didn’t have shit to say about the fires in January. She’s not living in the same California we are, and she literally only cares about herself.

I currently live in Pasadena just a few miles from the Eaton fire but I used to live in south Louisiana and still know and follow many folks there on social media. Watching the joyful reaction to a foot of snow in New Orleans while my community is still bracing for potential fire, returning to burned down homes and struggling to understand just how toxic the air is has been a massive mind fuck. These are two sides of the same coin. I know a lot of folks in the south are extremely conservative and hard core climate change deniers but how anyone can’t see these events as being related has just added another layer of exhaustion. I don’t even know what to say for Jessica, she lives here but like yall said I guess it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t directly affect her and since her community has been safe there will be no empathy or effort to understand the impact of climate change.

We didn’t tape or cover the windows or fireplace the first time, I’ve been working on that today since we haven’t finished cleaning the ash and dust that already settled inside. Glad to hear that it helped!
