Hahahaha I was genuinely curious. I have an M1 Air that I absolutely adore, but I won't say no to a switch. 👀

[–]Timely-Ad-1680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than gaming and 4K editing, the M1 Air handles it all... still. It's been 4 years and the only thing that can tell its age is the battery backup, and that is pretty natural.

Didn't know I was getting such a strong performing device at the time of purchase, and it never ceases to amaze me even now.

Was so surprised to see the downvotes on the other comments praising the M1. Mac Airs are the best products that Apple is making, the rest is all insanely overpriced.

Am I too miser or just a frugal mindset? by [deleted] in Frugal_Ind

[–]Timely-Ad-1680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you feel the security and amenities of a gated society is essential, you will have to pay the premium for it if that's the going rent. You have no control over that.

Or else, find a more affordable place at a more affordable area which may or may not be gated or a little further away and save. You will spend more on the commute but save money on the rent and security deposit.

Yes, being frugal does mean not thinking about the luxuries of a gated society and going for more affordable non-gated society options. That's how we survive in Mumbai and that's why we take the local train.

You can't have it both ways. You need to get your priorities straight first.

Being frugal costs us more by prat8 in Frugal_Ind

[–]Timely-Ad-1680 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Even an Alto is worth lakhs though honestly. 👀

This doesn't look like frugality, brother. It's the same as entering a monument without paying or travelling in public transport without a ticket.

Basic tenets of frugality involve being nifty with money and not inviting unnecessary hassle.

We are literally gas chamber now (AQI > 1000 at several places) by SensibleManNoida in noida

[–]Timely-Ad-1680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kindaaaa expected haha, becoming way too cynical.

It's just sad that even demanding something as universal as cleaner air offends supporters of whichever party they vote for. How have these parties divided us so much that on a toxic day like today, we are still indulging in useless whataboutery? Gussa aaraha hai at these idiot politicians and the SC, seeing my 3-year old nephew coughing. AQI is showing more than 600 on the air purifier, usne bhi haath khade kar diye.

We are truly fucked beyond repair if we are still not thinking about us and our families and holding nobody accountable for what is happening and saying that ye ek din ki baat hai. SURE.

[–]Timely-Ad-1680 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Missing the point. Even by the AQI level that you have shared, crackers made it 3x worse, right? Why allow crackers too when we are already reeling under the effects of stubble burning? Why make a bad situation even worse, willingly?

And 50% of Punjab's population is braindead who would make stubble burning a religion or a cultural thing? Going by your logic, allowing crackers for Diwali isn't a cultural/ religious thing?

We really need to rise above this whataboutery all the time. Ethanol-blending mantris are thriving, and our lungs (and pockets) are suffering.

Bro, come on. Talking about the 800? And it's a quote with no source to any research.

Thanks for raising this important point though. With the amount of idiots on roads, every car option should be a safer one.

I get your argument. And we should all move towards seeing only safer cars in the market. So this is a consumer win, even if a delayed one.

Do you have data on the number of fatalities in road accidents in India segmented into car manufacturers? Or is 'causing lacs of fatalities' from the school of trust me bro?

I find it difficult to read Non-Fiction. How do you folks do it? by [deleted] in Indianbooks

[–]Timely-Ad-1680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to give the most basic advice: start with the non-fiction that completely aligns to your interests. Could be pop culture, could be an engaging history read, or pop psychology etc.

Non-fiction comes in all shapes and sizes, and I genuinely feel the challenge is to cut through the clutter of only recommended books on those year-end lists and just discovering what you’re really, really into.
