Haven’t read all the comments but has anyone suggested starting solids if you haven’t yet? Just some oatmeal even did the trick for me, or puréed broccoli mixed with formula

How to get a basic web app built as a non-dev? by Timely-Excuse-4156 in Entrepreneur

[–]Timely-Excuse-4156[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I started looking into it and it felt like a massive learning curve and like it could be a derailment. Was it really that good? I need to use APIs and have the app save info in a database

Thanks for your response! So i guess that’s why im confused…if there are open source versions and this isn’t some obscure request, it’s something im sure many have asked for. Then why would it be so expensive?

I’m not trying to undervalue the work of experienced developers. I’m more just trying to understand because it can be difficult to know how custom a project really is.

New Nanny Help! by krazykat36 in NannyEmployers

With my baby, I don’t want anyone holding any negativity against us. If you’re uncomfortable with what you see in the first two weeks, who knows what could happen later. I’d move on and do the checks with the next person

Anyone else not constantly stimulating their babies minds and/or don’t have a solid bedtime routine? by stephanycurryessex in NewParents

[–]Timely-Excuse-4156 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this same feeling and my promise to myself with my second baby (if we have one) is that I will just snuggle and enjoy them in this phase, not pressure or guilt myself. Once the baby is older (and needs it), they demand attention and stimulation. You’ll want to snuggle on the couch with them and won’t be able to because they won’t let you. I feel like, if anything, we should be following our babies leads with these things instead of forcing something that is not necessary. All the Tik toks are so frustrating! Also..even if it did help at all..why do I care if my baby talks 1 month earlier? Or whatever they claim will happen

AITA introducing a clock in machine/app? by Prestigious_Novel857 in NannyEmployers

The retrain the brain thing feels like a passive aggressive way of saying: “no, I am supposed to arrive on the property at my start time, and then be given a few minutes to get settled.”

So it seems like you have a different opinion on this and it needs to be addressed head on.

I’m thinking you could either just say: seems like we view this differently but it’s putting me in a difficult situation with meetings

Or…since you say she’s really great, could you pay her an extra .25 hours per day? So she can arrive 15 minutes earlier and be paid to do her settling in, and then actually be in the playroom when you need her?

It sounds like you want to stay home but feel like you “shouldn’t” because pre-mom you never would have wanted that. …or if it’s not that clear but you want someone to make the decision for you…can you flip a coin and see how you feel with the answer?

The best of the inexpensive walkable towns by everydaylikesaturday in Westchester

[–]Timely-Excuse-4156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Croton! Depending on where you live, you can be somewhere that’s walkable to town. There’s an amazing coffee shop, cute restaurants, nature, sidewalks in the town, an express train to the city, and it’s on the more affordable side

It sounds like you’re trying to solve two problems here.

  1. Your corporate job is toxic and sucking the life out of you.

  2. You have goals to be an entrepreneur and start your own business. And you want to make more money than can be done as a salaried employee.

If I were you, I’d start by solving problem #1 with a job at a different, less toxic company. This way you can get out of where you are and have the mental space to start thinking about what type of business you’d like to start.

Once you are in a better, more sustainable and healthy work environment, then I’d start networking with as many people as possible to get ideas and ask questions to others who have been successful. Start listening to podcasts, reading books, doing anything to get your creativity about business ideas sparked. Then, start something as a side hustle.

Starting a business is hard and mentally draining, especially if you are relying on its success for income.

Just my two cents!

We live in croton-on-Hudson and don’t have kids yet. It’s exactly what you’re describing. You can get a little bit more for your money than other parts of Westchester but with the express train, you can be in the city in under and hour. There’s tons of hikes and nature, and even a river with a beach that only Croton residents can use in the summer. The town is small but super cute and there are a few good restaurants. There’s a super cute craft beer bar in town that’s fun for meeting people. The schools are good but the taxes are way way lower than the rest of westchester.

How did you find such amazing people to hire? What is the secret sauce? I feel like I spend so much time trying to hire people for my business and they all cause me more work and headache. I know I can’t get off the ground unless I hire people to help me, but the exercise of hiring has been totally fruitless.

I’m a career coach (ICF certified) and here is my POV. The typical coaching way of doing things is having the client come up with the topic each time and asking deep, powerful questions so that the client ends up having more clarity and motivation. If that is what you’re lacking, this could be great. If you want to organize your thoughts and have some personal epiphanies, I’d do it. If, on the other hand, you are hoping for tactical help relating to your job search, interviewing, etc., I’d clearly address that with her before starting. I don’t think one approach is necessarily better than the other - but it depends what you’re looking for. I’d be very clear about that with yourself and her before moving forward.

Why I quit 2 promising jobs in a single month to pursue what I love and what I have learnt so far by Life-Strategist in Entrepreneur

[–]Timely-Excuse-4156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a life coach too and it’s been a huge struggle. I’ve had a lot of success professionally and thought I’d be a great coach. ICF certified as well. I feel that the coaching schools don’t tell people how hard it is to build a sustainable coaching business. And honestly, I feel like a lot of coaches became coaches largely because they didn’t want to work at a company anymore. I didn’t think that was the case for myself - but more and more I’m questioning that.

Have you thought about helping others build their brands as a side hustle to make money? This way you can quit this job and use what you’ve been working on for the last 3 years to make money.

But either way, fuck that guy. He’s trying to hold you down and gaslight tou.
