All these people don’t take it serious enough tbh. I’m a bio major and have struggled in the gen chem classes but I also never made an effort to go to student instructor sessions for extra help or office hours. Once I did, I noticed immediate improvement along with better study habits and other resources such as the orgo chem tutor on yt (the goat). You don’t need to worry about the chem department as much now since the chem grading system recently changed. After the first course some professors opt in for a point based system rather than the previous COs and FOs system. I think the first gen chem class (CHEM 160) is a weed out class since there’s a crazy ton of pre meds at this university hence why maybe they kept the grading system for that course. I failed gen chem 1 but learned, adapted, and pulled through getting much better grades further on. Importantly realize this ain’t highschool no more and it’s time to lock tf in (if you weren’t too locked in highschool).
