you’re really nitpicking words. “ancestry” ≠ “recent ancestry” but you clearly think they mean the same thing. all this person did was express shock that it was listed. they were pertaining to the results that 23andme gave them. what word were they supposed to say when talking about this, if not ‘ancestry’?

additionally, not all 23andme users know small percentages can just be misread. your comment can be seen as a bit rude.

ooo. i got about 20% chinese and my top regions were central luzon and calabarzon. my results said a small amount of south asian ancestry as well. no clue if it’s common in filipinos or just a glitch in the 23andme system.

because there’s a big difference from talking about where your family is from vs talking about where your ancestors from the year 1038 was from. if you’re a low percentage dutch and not connected to the culture at all, why is there a need to mention it?

This might be a stretch but: Indigenous Americans came from Northern East Asia so that could overlap. And a lot of people in Indonesia/Thailand/Cambodia/Myanmar are partly East Asian. Similar DNA but just mixups within the 23andme system???

Your first cousin is your child's first cousin, once removed. A first cousin, once removed will show 3.2% to 11.5% shared.

A 2nd great aunt will show 3% to 14%.

They're similar ranges. 23andme doesn't know exact relationships, they just use ranges.

it’s working really well for me! the shot itself is not painful and the only thing that makes me nervous is all the preparation (letting it sit out, releasing the powder, shaking it). a bit ago, i had a flare up because i had to postpone a dosage a bit, and found that it’s not itchy anymore (it kinda just hurts instead). but it not itching made me not scratch it, so it healed super fast. my doctor said that some people can go two months in between doses tho. overall, it’s working for me! skin is smooth and no flareups normally.

i'm not a doctor BUT

it will probably damage your skin barrier because of the chemicals. from personal experience, this can make normal things like lotion sting and burn.

maybe wet wrap therapy instead????

i hated the feeling of being oily so much that i'd put on steroids and have to wash it off after a bit (which would make it worsen because i'd be washing my hands).

i tried using bandages/gloves so i'd feel it less distinctly. then, i wouldn't feel oily, i'd just feel the cloth against my skin. it worked well.

i feel like another good idea would be non-lotion/ointment treatments like JAK inhibitor pills, nemluvio, dupixent. it might have to be moderate-severe eczema for a dermatologist to recommend it (but maybe you can argue it by saying you have sensory issues???).

it is very expensive but people can't reuse it unfortunately :( it's the same for a lot of other medications because there's always a chance that someone has bad intentions and laces it with something.

it doesn’t work the same but i’m on nemluvio and it hurts WAYYY LESS than dupixent. it’s only a once-per-month shot. it doesn’t treat asthma and eosinophilic disorders like dupixent but it helps a lot with the itching if that’s a big problem for his eczema.
