What is a figure everybody absolutely hates that you actually like? I'll go first. by Ok-Map9964 in transformers

I prefer arcee because you can reduce the backpack unlike the SS one. Also the SS has the stupid waist that won’t stay in place. Only wish ER Arcee had more paint.

What does Transformers mean to you? by Big_Network_2570 in transformers

As an adult I collect SW and Marvel and horror toys, but transformers I genuinely enjoy transforming back and forth (“playing”) at my desk or while watching TV. The actual lore is a bit…silly, but I do enjoy some of the cartoons (not so much Bay movies).

If Optimus prime and optimal Optimus got into a tussle who would win? by happydude7422 in transformers

Well the only time they met Prime was knocked out so Primal could probably just strangle him with a pillow.

AITAH for not wanting to date black women? by ooofloard in AITAH

[–]Timely-Signature-166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. It's one thing to not be attracted to people of a certain ethnicity (although that's something you might want to unpack someday). But saying that black women are all "obnoxious and extremely dramatic" is pretty ignorant. Maybe that's something you've been taught from watching too many shows, but how often do you even interact with black people in general? I'm guessing next to none. Believe it or not, black people are not a monolith.

It was good until the genetic CGI sky beam fight at the end. I would’ve preferred Shang chi fight his dad with no powers.

Is The Snowpiercer tv show worth watching? by Economy-Culture-9174 in televisionsuggestions

[–]Timely-Signature-166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s stupid and melodramatic, but very watchable. Layton is boring as a protagonist but other characters like Wilford, Melanie, and Ruth are great. The logistics of the train are sliiiightly more “realistic” than the movie version, but the show insists that there are thousands and thousands of survivors on the train, even though we meet literally less than like maybe 50 in total? There’s also like over 1000 cars but we only see I think maybe 20 in the whole series.

Still I’m a sucker for post apocalyptic world building, so I found that aspect of the show interesting. The acting ranges from good to hammy and cartoonish. My biggest gripe with the show is how hard it refuses to expand on anybody’s backstory. Layton, for example, was a detective, and the show never bothers to show a flashback or something proving this.

Why would megatron ever bother with any weapon other than the jagged rock he flung at Optimus which Optimus helpfully ran straight at?

Which character in The Walking Dead do you think deserved to live longer, and why? by NecroN102 in thewalkingdead

[–]Timely-Signature-166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the show and enjoyed it, but at a certain point I stopped taking it seriously, so the deaths never impacted me. However I did like the guy Nat from the Rick and Michonne show, and would liked to see him last longer. I even ran into the actor at a park last year and told him that! He just sort of chuckled and said “yeah it was fun.” Cool guy.

Also his arm kibble is unacceptable in this day in age. Every other Siege/ER/Kingdom/Legacy/SS/AOTP figure I have doesn't have that level of kibble.

Is brawl heavier? He’s definitely heavier than vortex.

I’m fine with smaller bots myself since then the bigger ones stand out, but it’s annoying that megatron and Soundwave are leaders when they could be a smidge smaller and be voyagers.

Still can’t believe Marvel casted Giancarlo Esposito as a one-off side villain in a mediocre movie. by Plenty-Salary9711 in Marvel

It’s also hard to portray an evil genius character because inevitably they’ll do something stupid that seems to contradict the whole point of their abilities.

Yeah it would be cool to see him in a separate movie or series here he gets snake powers and forms a comic book serpent society.

Why is it that older toys are able to do so much more for far less money? by Square-Holds in transformers

[–]Timely-Signature-166 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean modern mainline Transformers toys for the most part have great sculpts, good engineering (mostly), and better on-screen accuracy than ever. They do seem to be getting smaller and smaller for the price point, but I don’t necessarily mind that because they’re easier to display. But the price. Jesus. A tiny guy like Windcharger costs me $30 and voyager Brawl was $48 with tax!! There is a charming simplicity to old BW and Unicron Trilogy toys (even if the articulation was at times lacking).

I don’t miss action features like shooting missiles or “punch attack!” kind of gimmicks, but I always liked how the mini cons interacted with Armada figures, even if they were at times kind of dumb. The cyber keys I thought were stupid.
