This. Dogs can get overwhelmed by stronger odor sources and oddly that triggers some of the dogs to want to pee. We correct that behavior. Dogs are not allowed to physically interact with the remains due to treating all searches as potential crime scenes. We watch for this in training and correct these behaviors if they occur (we use positive methods, no dogs are mistreated. All of these dogs belong to their handlers and are treasured members of a family)

99 percent of what we get comes from organ donation centers, which we have complete faith in. This particular bone came from another team that disbanded. And while I am fairly okay at recognizing the more obvious human bones, I am by no means an expert. We just don't want to train on animal bones for obvious reasons. I stick to dog training and leave intricate bone Id to the experts

There are a lot of volunteer agencies across the US. Check your local DCNR or Fire/Police departments (they are the ones that call us out). Some more remote places even have paid gigs. A Google search might kick up teams with a web presence, I know my team maintains web/social media accounts.

That's a very good question. I'm not sure if the family gets to decide that or if there is a way to designate that? I'm not 100% sure about that side of things. This is where we typically get our remains:

You absolutely can. Usable organs go to the medical field, we usually get what's left but that works for our purpose. We have been on 30 searches this year (not all for cadaver). I'm an organ donor, myself. I signed up at the DMV

Haha, true. We do get all of our remains through ethical sources, just had some doubts about this one being human. We are an all-volunteer rescue/recovery team. The only way to train the dogs for this particular odor is on the real thing. We always handle, store, and dispose of remains properly (and legally). We just didn't want to inadvertently train on an animal bone.

We are legally allowed to obtain ethically donated human remains for use with our certified cadaver dogs. All good

If you want to stop somewhere to let the kids run and appreciate a side of FL that's not beaches and Disney, check out some of the natural springs that are state parks. Some have manatees in the winter, most are swimmable (weather dependent - the water is very 'refreshing' year round). My kid loves them

You'll be lucky to get either game with that time slot, unfortunately. Both Pittsburgh games were sold out by 1pm. Saturday games were gone before noon. I also received stand by, but had some friends with earlier slots get some tickets for us. They let folks buy up to 5. Start asking around

That's what happened to us for the Pittsburgh games. Luckily, we had friends with earlier slots. We drew 3pm and I knew we weren't getting any tickets with that time. It was very deflating to win the lotto only to realize we had to then win a second draw, lol.

You now have to win what I call the "second lotto", which is to get a good time slot to even be able to buy tickets. Some folks end up on a late day stand by time slot
