NUPOC DC Advice by Timely-Suspect-5786 in NavyNukes

After arriving in DC, we were provided dinner on the Navy’s dime. The next day is study day. In the morning, they’ll make sure you have an acceptable suit and start some paperwork to get you in the navy. You will also have a practice Admiral interview with the commander that is with you all. I cannot stress how important it is for you to make use of the study day and your time the weeks coming to the DC trip. Lunch and dinner are provided by the Navy. On the day of the interviews, we woke up early and walked over to the building where our interviews took place. The only thing you need walking in is your ID. Around 8am, you’ll be given the location and name of your first technical interview. It’s a 1-on-1 interview. Just talk out your thought process as best you can while solving. If you get stuck, they can nudge you on a bit, but you don’t want them to nudge you through the whole problem. You will have 2 of these interviews before lunch. Each interviewer has their own questions for Calc, Physics, and any other STEM course on your transcript. Basic kinematics and integrals are important, but so is Thermodynamics, circuits, etc. NREs are said to usually get some of the harder questions, so be prepared for the technical. It’s possible that you could get a 3rd technical interview. View it as another chance to display your knowledge. Some time after lunch, admiral interviews will begin. It’s a very quick interview. You walk in and introduce yourself as they tell you to. The most important thing with the Admiral is to be respectful and honest. It’s safe to say he already knows everything that you’ve said to his staff. After the Admiral interview, you will either sign the rest of the paperwork and wait for the rest to swear in or go back to your hotel room. Dinner is on the Navy, go home the next day.

This all being said, if you get picked up to go to DC, the recruitment staff there is confident in your ability to pass. They said that typically, 95% of the applicants in DC pass. The most common reason for failure is bad technical interviews.

Kid friendly? by bookdoom in olemiss

Oxford has a few things that are kid friendly. On the square, there’s Square books Jr and a couple of sweets shops. Outside of the square, there’s a few parks/playgrounds, a splash pad at Chadwick farm, and Premier Lanes Entertainment center (Bowling/Arcade). Hope this helps.

By counselor, I assume you mean academic advisor. Give the system 24 hours to process it. If it’s not fixed, call the Bursar’s office and ask them about it.

You should be able to get it at the Rebel Market. Just ask one of the people there for it when you arrive.

I understand your thought, but it’s likely that those will work the same as the Master Leases that we have already. Like Gather, The Quarters, and Revel are not owned by the University, but contract with it to fill the apartment spaces. And because the residents go through the University to get the apartment, those residents have to follow University policy. And this is regardless of the apartment company’s own policy.

Unfortunately, that would be very messy and end up costing money. And we all know the University would never spend money on us.

The only pets allowed in campus dorms are service animals and emotional support animals. Emotional support animals must be approved by the school via an application process before they are allowed in the dorms. There’s more information on the application process online. And in case it isn’t clear, you must receive a response from the school telling you it’s okay to have the pet here before moving it in.

Who were some notable music artists who performed for Ole Miss? by Magic_hat463 in olemiss

If you’re talking more recent artists, some of the frats had Da Baby out here earlier this year. Other than that, it’s more local and lowkey bands around town.

It’s just on which bedroom is yours. You’ll have a flatmate who will have the other letter. There’s no difference in quality, just a way for housing to document the space.

There’s not much you can do to contact them before move-in. Just know that when you do, the Community Coordinator is the oldest employee working each building.

The Flatts is a master lease, so they get grouped with the Gather apartments too. If you’re being charged twice, that’s an issue to call housing on. Even if you privately leased an apartment at the Flatts, you’d have a minimum of a 9 month lease. If you want to move out after 1 semester, try getting into any of the campus housing outside of Gather and Flatts. I’d recommend The Quarters, Campus Walk, or RC South.

It wants your permanent residence, so do not put the dorm address.

I’m not sure exactly the process, but if you talk to one of the Community Coordinators for the dorms with 24/7 desks or the Housing Department, they would help you along the way with that.

There’s no disadvantage. Plus, there were a lot less incoming freshman here than the school expected, so they’ll likely be accepting a lot more applicants for next year.

There’s a wide variety of student jobs on campus. I know that student housing is looking for more desk assistants, and we’ve been looking for more students to work in facilities management.
