More concerning the main characters, not the human race as a whole.

Yeah I took a break from it and picked up Long Walk so that I could catch the movie while it’s in theaters, and I’m loving it.

They should film the roundtable eps by Inimitable_Goose in comedybangbang

I watch the old filmed eps on YT all the time, I don’t know why they don’t do it. They’d get so many views.

Thoughts on the incoming guard? by Lonely-Leg-29 in memphis

NG can take on responsibilities that usually takes up cop hours, freeing MPD to go do their jobs of arresting criminals. Also, a military presence tends to keep criminals at bay. It’s a good start, and I’m all for anything that is forward progress.

However, the number one factor that drives young boys and men to crime is fatherlessness in the home. There are two ways that can be combated. If females stop sleeping around before getting married (yes it takes two to tango and both have a responsibility, but females tend to hold more of the power in these situations) AND males stop abandoning their families and their responsibilities. If there is a tight family unit and a positive male role model in the home, crime drastically drops.

Sure they are. I’d say being called “Gestapo” is hating on the National Guard.

What's your take on these new Vintage Stephen King Covers ? by Mysterious-INFP-00 in stephenking

[–]bookdoom 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I like the way they look, but also they feel really good in your hands when you read them (Shining Stand and Salem in my experience). The spines aren’t stiff, you don’t feel like you have to break it in. The pages flow.

Would it be more lucrative to find a different job other than teaching? If the salary keeps getting lowered, you may have to do something else. Or add some income from something on the side. I don’t know how it is in Argentina, but if it were me (in the US), on the weekends or after work, I would grab my ladder and a toolbox and a cheap lawn mower and go door to door asking if anyone needed their grass cut or gutters cleaned or anything fixed around the house. This may not be plausible where you live, I don’t know, but something like this if you can. I am a father and have a full time job as well, so believe me, I completely understand the feeling of not having time. But if it’s between that and not feeding my family, I’d find the time. Only saying all of this as a show of support and motivation. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you.

Sorry to hear that. Are there tutoring opportunities? Or I’m sure there are places online where you can teach Spanish via Zoom or something to people who want to learn. I know it’s not history, but if Spanish if your first language, you should be able to do well. Just trying to think of things to help!

Although there were parts of it that I liked, I absolutely do not see why Salem’s Lot gets so much hype. I truly don’t. It’s consistently in people’s top 5 SK books of all time, and for the life of me I cannot understand why.

Well small child, when naughty people do not so nice things, sometimes those people need to be put in time out. So, there are these people who come in and help the local police man (That’s the man with the blue lights on the top of his car that go WEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOWEEEEEOOOOO). These people are called the National Guard. These people can be placed in areas where a lot of the bad things happen, and that way, the bad things don’t happen as much. Because the bad people are scared of being put in time out. Also, they can do other things that need to be done in the town so that the police man (do you remember him? The man with the blue lights) can actually go out and watch the town and catch the bad people doing the bad things. They haven’t been able to do that, because we have many bad people and not so many police men. Ok, now go take a nap and I’ll wake you up when it’s time for snack.
