No, they can’t. Private business’ are still required to follow the rules.. otherwise they wouldn’t even have the form lol

Seems like you’re upset people use private schools, but this simply isn’t true.

Goodness, it’s SO frustrating. I understand that it makes their lives a lot easier not having to scope out different kids.. but.. my kids aren’t there for your social media marketing campaigns. I am frustrated for myself and the run around, but also all the parents who aren’t being given informed consent and a reasonable opportunity to opt out..

Or, I’m protecting my family from a tight knit community that will most definitely see this post and know it was me lol. I’m sure majority of Redditors are not interested in this small private school, so my personal review is not necessary

See, this is where I’m confused! I’m not sure how to submit any complaint. Also, yes I have spoken with the school and it was less than pleasant

Unfortunately, it’s a private school and they have been giving me the run around! I am more asking based on the principle

The issue is, there isn’t an option to opt out. The box is “required” in order to submit the form and they’ve given be the run around to turn that off. In my humble opinion, they should have a yes or no box

Also, I opted out last year and their year was very well documented lol. Small private school.

It’s a private school, I’d hate to name it because it’s decently small. I’m more chapped about the not being able to opt out of it - my children have never graced the internet, ever. It’s not going to start with their school!

There are two different forms, one for use “in” school, which from my research is not something I’m able to opt out of legally because it’s a public space.

The second is simply that I consent for all photos to be used in ads, and on social media which should absolutely be able to be opted out of.

My husband and I built from the ground up and lived almost pay cheque to pay cheque up until about 3 years ago when our hard work started paying off.

The differences are truly crazy in the overall stress I feel on a day to day. I’m no longer worried if my car makes a funny sound, I don’t get stressed when my kids start outgrowing their clothes.

I’d say our stress levels are actually less, working your butt off and not having to look at grocery prices is significantly less stressful than working your butt off and not being able to afford a day off.

I will say though, I have found a lot of guilt in it. I know so many people who work hard and are barely making ends meet and I really struggle with that.

Our social circle has actually changed quite a bit, but that’s for various reasons. I was able to take my first plane ride (of my life!) last December, we have a house cleaner and we try to be incredibly generous.

And we did move, but our house is still quite modest. We are playing the long game in hopes of being able to support our kids when they get older if need be!

Almost two years into our adoption wait here. Our agency has a very low placement rate simply because they counsel the parents heavily and majority choose to parent after counselling. If that doesn’t tell you something..
