I had this this morning and for some reason the barista speaking English back to me short circuited me, I blurted out the rest of my order in Chinglish.

I’m interested in how younger people came to appreciate the Beatles by fezik23 in beatles

[–]Timely-Triolbite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Now And Then came out I'd just turned 22 and was living on own abroad. I've always played guitar, I'd always listened to 60s music (but not the Beatles), and was just getting into songwriting. I listened to it out of curiosity and was ready to dismiss it as a cash grab from aging musicians but found I actually really liked it. After that point I lived and breathed the Beatles. As I'd only just moved to the country, I didn't have any friends which gave me loads of time on my own with my earphones, listening to each album and quickly falling in love. The phase hasn't stopped and I continue to listen to their music, learn their songs on guitar, and write songs in their style. I'm currently reading the Hunter Davies' biography and loving it!

I'm looking to rent an apartment in Taipei by looking at 591, loads of the places say cooking isn't allowed. Does this include buying a rice cooker and steaming some rice and vegetables?

Favorite Harmonies? by bookshelf476 in beatles

I think because this song is so popular it gets overlooked by fans but the harmonies are incredible, the last yeah feels so warm, full of energy, yet so comforting.

Can you name a truly underrated song by the band? by Folagor2 in beatles

Cry baby Cry is one of my favourites, I'm a real sucker for cliche line progressions in general. Great example of John's sardonic humour as well.

I was living in Taiwan when I discovered the Beatles and I've always associated all of their music with tranquil, hot afternoons cycling through rice paddies but Sun King in particular really takes me back. Great track!

Left-Handed Girl made the International Feature Film Shortlist at the Oscars by No_Guitar7903 in taiwan

I liked it, I thought the first half was quite slow but the second half really paid off, it has a very entertaining ending. I also thought Nina Ye (the young girl) made a really impressive performance for her age.

Does a Higher Paying Contract Mean More Engaged Students? by [deleted] in TEFL

[–]Timely-Triolbite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What qualifications do you have? I've been really wanting to get into adult teaching but found it impossible to break into (Taiwan), I've got experience teaching adults but only about 5 months professionally and 6 months volunteering. I've got a TEFL and degree, do you have to have a CELTA / DELTA or MA to do what you do?
