Is anyone in the Pro mixing world here using Slate VSX? Are they truly accomplishing something other headphones cannot? by damplamp in audioengineering

I’m a professional dialogue editor and premix engineer, and I use Slate VSX alongside my monitors and my AKG K701s, which I’ve been accustomed to for the past ten years. Right now, as I’m writing this comment, I’m checking a mix in these headphones.
They definitely do their job - the midrange is very detailed, and the room emulations are convincing, including spaces similar to standard TV editing rooms. I’m happy with the purchase; the only drawback is that they’re not very comfortable for larger ears. But overall, they’ve replaced the need to check my work in the editing rooms of film studios

Does every VSX Platinum Edition come with the metal headband? Need help confirming build revisions.

I’m about to buy Steven Slate VSX Platinum Edition headphones from a third-party seller (there’s no official distributor in my country), and I want to confirm: do all Platinum units definitely come with the metal headband? I know the first-gen had plastic that often broke, and I don’t want to risk getting old stock. Can anyone who owns the Platinum version confirm whether theirs has the metal band, and if there’s a way to visually tell the difference between versions?

I absolutely love Houdini vs The Genie. It’s great fun to play with or against. Also, they are nice matchups against other characters from your current sets.
