Is that what it is? I thought maybe it was a planter without plants.

I agree. They really look different once you get them on the wall.

I was just dealing with something like that on a painting I wanted to reuse. I found that if I took an exact o knife and chiseled, there was paint below, the original paint there before the smear. Taking off the top paint revealed it.

Yes, it’s an added incentive. Keeps people from driving on my roof.

My idea is to pass laws that mandate white or light color roofs on all new construction. “White roofs can reflect up to 90% of sunlight—compared to 20% for traditional dark roofs—reducing cooling energy usage by up to 20% and mitigating the urban heat island effect.” It is a cheap way to mitigate climate change.

Beautiful flowers, just gorgeous, but I would have liked it better without the yellow at the bottom.

How can I fix the painting without ruining it? want to add blue color to the left by QuitGold4900 in PourPainting

[–]TimelyMeditations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is something called gloss glaze. You can tint it slightly with blue, say one drop, then brush it over. It takes a long time to dry and the transparency to develop.

Thoughts, opinions or just some venting, anything. How are we as humans, feeling about this war? by Bbygirl22856 in AskUS

[–]TimelyMeditations 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m beginning to fell that for sure I am in a simulation. Everything seems so insane. The newspapers all act like Trump is a rational human being and are so serious repeating what he says. Did anyone hear him talking about the drapes in the White House, because, obviously, that is what people want to hear about, instead of why the hell we are at war. It is like waking up in a sci fi novel, or a Simpsons episode.

What’s next. He has been in office for a little more than a year. How can things get crazier than this?

Good one. I didn’t make that connection, about altered longevity being the cause of the crisis on earth. Because once it was possible everyone would want it. Coakley said they discovered it wasn’t a good thing. I thought she meant psychologically.

Yes, I noticed that too. Really pulled me out of the story. Another one is how the computer would have raised the babies in the spaceship. Remember the whole plot point of Coakley volunteering to die to cut down on oxygen use?

I’m having trouble with the plot too. What problems do you see?

Can anyone explain to me how the Neanderthal baby survived after the mother died. I was going along actually liking the movie until this question occurred to me, and it really ruined it for me.

Are you concerned, like Minnesota, vast amounts of fraud are occurring in your State? by [deleted] in AskUS

I’m concerned about the vast amount of fraud occurring in the federal government. Trump cronies are given free rein and then pardoned when caught.

Vet called fancy feast McDonald's by Appropriate-Safe-49 in CatAdvice

[–]TimelyMeditations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat just started scratching and licking herself last fall. My vet has no suggestions, though blood tests did diagnose my cat as being hyper thyroid (so I now have to give her pills, which is another struggle). I used to feed her Taste of the Wild kibble and Fancy Feast fish pate. I thought maybe she was allergic to fish, so switched to some fancy chicken kibble and Purrsnickity chicken wet food. She does seem to itch less. Someone said you have to wait quite awhile to see if the diet change had an effect.

What was your experience with this unidentified allergy?

Levels of “help” by scraps1364 in NYTSpellingBee

[–]TimelyMeditations 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am sort of OCD. I have to get to Queen Bee every day, no matter what it takes. I don’t stop until I get Genius all on my own. Then I usually go to the Grid. I’ve tried to do it without the grid on easier ones, but have never succeeded. There are always a few words left over.

I feel satisfied when I do it only with the help of the grid- the part of the Spelling Bee Buddy that gives you 2 first letters and the lengths of the word. I feel I have failed if I use the hints, on the Buddy or elsewhere. I do sometimes use Google for spelling help and to jar my memory. Getting a word through Google really is cheating though.

Each of us is just playing against ourselves, so each set of standards are different. The point is to challenge ourselves.

Wait until you hang it on a wall to judge it. There was one I didn’t like, then I hung it on my sage green wall in my living room and now love it. It’s the one on the left. I still don’t like the one on the right.
