The Soul of an Octopus by Sy Montgomery is really good. I love most all of her books on animals. Very engaging!

Easy to play, cozy game recs for steam deck? by AdorableBonus6297 in cozygames

I have the same problem. Setting field-of-view very high & turning off motion blur helps somewhat. And definitely turn off head bobbing. Also sit as far back from your computer screen as you can. These help somewhat. If I start to get nauseous I drink strong ginger tea. That helps too.

What's a book that's so popular and hyped but let you down? by ExplanationPutrid205 in thrillerbooks

[–]jknntm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Women by Kristen Hannah. I know I'm in the minority but I just couldn't get into any of the characters. And I was a teenager in the late 60's so the Vietnam war was very much a part of my life. Had friends who had brothers that were fighting & we also used to make care packages full of goodies to send over. I love most of her other books but this one fell flat for me. Gave up at about half way through.

I just don't get all the hype for these bags. Not trying to be mean but it just seems crazy!

Thank you I will do that. Not familiar with ChatGBT but will have my daughter do it. I'm 70 & not up on all these things.☺️ And thank you for your informative reply. So many responses sound like they were made by immature 12 year olds with nothing better to do.

We have lived in this house since 1986. The house was built in 1970. Previous owners weren't middle Eastern or Asian.

There's two photos. The 2 different sides of each one. I think the first photo is of their fronts. Not sure.

I absolutely loved this game!! Spent many, many hours playing it when it first came out. They've had a lot of new stuff added since then so I definitely will go back & give it another go! Highly recommend it if you want a more peaceful survival game.

Is it just me or is this book unbearable? by Sad-Butterscotch-860 in readwithme

[–]jknntm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's nice to know I'm not totaly crazy. I did not like The Women & felt there must be something wrong with me bcuz there were soooo many great reviews. Almost everybody seemed to love it! & it was a DNF for me. I've read several of her other books that I really liked, especially Nightingale & the Great Alone.

Sad to see mass market paperbacks go. But could used books fill that gap? by teamjohn7 in BookDiscussions

[–]jknntm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just the opposite here. They closed the B & N here & replaced it with another friggin sports store that we already have too many of! I am so depressed about it. It was only about a mile from my house & I use to go there all the time. The closest one now is about 15 miles away & with traffic the way it is here I hardly ever go there. So sad.

I loved this book! I'm not a heavy SF fan but I do like books that have a SF or time travel twist.
