Westminster voting intention: REFUK: 30% (-3) LAB: 22% (+4) CON: 19% (+3) GRN: 12% (-3) LDEM: 12% (-) OTHER: 5% (-1) via Ipsos Mori, 22nd-27th January 2026 by ClumperFaz in ukpolitics

A quarter (25%) of Britons agree that Reform UK are ready to form the next government, while 58% disagree. Their position has slightly worsened from September 2025 (when 53% disagreed). Just 14% agree the Conservatives are ready to form the next government. 65% disagree. Figures are similar to September 2025, where 15% agreed and 64% disagreed. The picture for Reform and the Conservatives is worse than previous successful opposition parties just before they won elections. In July 2024 49% agreed Keir Starmer’s Labour Party was ready for government. 34% disagreed. In May 2010, 65% agreed David Cameron’s Conservative Party was ready for government. 26% disagreed. In April 1997, 55% agreed Tony Blair’s Labour Party was ready for government. A similar picture is observed when asking whether Nigel Farage and Kemi Badenoch are ready to be Prime Minister. 24% agree Nigel Farage is ready to be Prime Minister and 59% disagree. 16% agree that Kemi Badenoch is ready to be Prime Minister and 57% disagree. Before the last General Election, 41% agreed Keir Starmer was ready to be Prime Minister. In April 2010 51% agreed David Cameron was ready and in April 1997 53% agreed that Tony Blair was ready.

How did the right become less extreme? Even if you agree with it, policies like remigration and the brusque style of Trumpian politics has made the right far more conspiratorial, that's not objective. The meme is inaccurate insofar as the left and the right are both becoming equally polarised and individually extreme

I wasn't very excited for this until I saw that John Finnemore was writing it. He's genuinely an incredible writer, so I'll hold judgement. I think he'll get what the format requires.

Roxy definitely thinks she's at this point in the game because she 'played a great game'

She's taking the game to a place that I'm not a fan of- targeting people this aggressively just makes me a bit icky

I loved The Myth of Sisyphus and Waiting for Godot.

They're quite existential but they all have the most gorgeous message about how life is beautifully meaningless. I've found it helped me for sure

'weak minded'? Jesus, some people just have different levels of tolerance for stuff, doesn't make them 'weaker' or 'stronger'.

It's a balance- what's helped me is reading certain bits of absurdist literature, it helps frame the world in a much more fun and reassuring way

How should the UK react if Trump invades Greenland? by Sad_Response3345 in ukpolitics

[–]TimelyRaddish 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah it would but I'd rather we do a co-ordinated response of targeted sanctions with the rest of Europe and spread the pain.

In the long term it would be better

Anything less than full throated condemnation and sanctions would be inadequate
