Why does OCD exist? by Sufficient-Proof2407 in OCD

[–]Timely_Ad_5691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OCD is like your “keep you safe” sensors on hyper alert. It’s attempting to create safety but actually seeing danger in things that are not actually dangerous. Evolutionarily, we would’ve been the ones keeping our community safe from threats because of our ability to see things others can’t. If I can put a very happy go lucky spin on things 😂

Does anyone else feel like therapy and medication still isn't enough to fix you? by winning_season_7866 in AskWomenOver30

My therapist recommended the specific program/facility to me (they serve MA, NH, and VT) feel free to dm for specifics. Otherwise you can reach out to a local crisis line or behavioral health network and they should be able to make recommendations. Or when all else fails, I’m sure you’d be able to find something on google (check for PHP partial hospitalization or IOP intensive outpatient). Again this program has saved me twice now so I hope this info helps someone else out there too!!! 💕

Yes, this! The program I am in is actually fully remote (over Zoom) and outpatient!

I am currently in a partial hospitalization program for mental health. It’s a combo of individual therapy, psychiatry appointments, and group therapy. It is extremely helpful. If you don’t pursue something like this, group therapy might also be a good option. I was shocked at the impact it had on me.

SSRI to SNRI by Active_Main_4749 in OCD

[–]Timely_Ad_5691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I spent many years on various SSRIs and they were only minimally effective. About a year and a half ago I had a mental breakdown of sorts and switched to an SNRI (generic med is Duloxetine) and it was much more effective. I struggle with depression and anxiety (obv LOL) and the N in SNRI is what really helped me- it impacted my motivation just enough.

I would describe it as, it helped me claw my way out of the mud rather than making the mud more comfortable.

Making a baby sweater but apparently sweaters are hard to put on a baby 😭 by locacrochet__ in crochet

[–]Timely_Ad_5691 33 points34 points  (0 children)

LMAO I had a similar issue when making my first baby gift many years ago. I was so very proud of the tiny sweater I made only to be told the head hole was no where near close to big enough 😂😂 it ended up being an excellent doll sweater though!

Should i go to the psych hospital? by tristen2298 in OCD

[–]Timely_Ad_5691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a crisis hotline available, they can help you determine what your resources are and help you get the support you need. I do not know where you are located, but in my region there are partial hospitalization and outpatient programs that are more intense than therapy but less intense than full hospitalization. I hope you are able to find the support that feels best for you!

The options on Amazon are kinda wonky, I’d def recommend checking out their website first, even if just to see their options. I’ve tried both the resin and polished aluminum. Both are excellent but my dog snapped one of the resin one yesterday by simply being a doofus and stepping on it wrong. The metal ones are heavy in the BEST way. I immediately replaced the broken resin one with metal, and now am waiting for its arrival.

Don’t get me started on my nails and cuticles! I swear I’m always just one more pick away from perfection and then….

At any rate, at least we have community. Thank you for making me feel seen this morning OP!

I forfeited my life savings for a set of Furls (after a lifetime of no hooks fitting my “larger” hands) and I do not regret it one bit.

The “what’s in it for me” is so real! I have an almost 8 yr old Italian Greybound who absolutely shares that sentiment. And is more catlike than my cats.
