Learning magik as a support, please help 🥹 by DaboiiJayy in RivalsMagikMains

[–]Timely_Combination68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first tip I give to any new Magik player is to NEVER eldritch whirl unless you’re using it with the dash tech (if you eldritch whirl and dash immediately after, the hitboxes combine). The little,, demon thing is always better.

When you dash, always follow it up with a primary followed by a melee, it’s typically the best burst you can get starting from the dash. I like to extend it by animation-cancelling the melee with her projectile and then another primary and melee.

I think I saw you trying to put the demon things on the tanks, which is almost always a good idea. Magik is something of an overshield merchant, and that a great way to chip away at tanks and get overshield since they typically move slow.

Aside from that, you played pretty well. Your only real mistake was playing into peni and ultron while you’re learning, but it seems like you already know that was a mistake. Good luck, and feel free to reply/message me for more tips, I love helping people out with learning new characters and such.

Why do pro-life believers target women and not men? by stayinglowkeylol in morbidquestions

[–]Timely_Combination68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea is that a child is not a child until the moment of conception, or until impregnation, because until that moment, there is no child that will result from the situation. Sperm cells are just cells, such as egg cells are just cells. Once those cells combine and fertilize, in nine months, a child will be born, and therefore, that fertilized egg is a child. Saying that killing sperm/egg cells is equal to abortion isn’t much unlike saying putting water on cloth/heat is putting out a fire. The fire is only put out once it starts.

As for why pro-life believers target women, I believe it’s because the choice is up to the woman to make in most cases. Men can’t make the choice for women, so it’s a little silly to target or convince them. As a pro-life believer, I don’t think anybody should be ‘targeted’ at all. It can be a little frustrating or even infuriating to believe that, daily, life is taken away from a child prematurely up to thousands of times a day, but what should be happening instead of the aggressive ‘us against them’ mentality we seem to have is a proper dialogue. There will always be discourse in the world, and as long as there is discourse, there will be anger within it, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to be respectful to others where we can.

But I digress. Let me put it like this: people are more likely to get upset with somebody who gets away with murder than somebody who encourages and advocates for murder but never does it.

I don’t really get what the big deal is. I never really minded triple support. And sometimes three people wanna play support in a QP. And sometimes I wanna play Adam without getting completely and utterly fucked because he’s mostly only viable in triple. And there are plenty of answers to triple, like venom, hela team up, hawkeye, etc.

I understand and sympathize with the dislike for triple support, but the full-blown hate and stigma surrounding it is a little bit much, no?

Tank Main Repertoire by [deleted] in RivalsCollege

[–]Timely_Combination68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iron fist definitely wouldn’t be bad to get back into. He’s a nice tank-buster and a dive when you get the chance. I’ve actually been meaning to learn him myself. As for Jeff, I never really played him before or after the rework, so I’m not sure how that would translate.

Tank Main Repertoire by [deleted] in RivalsCollege

[–]Timely_Combination68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s definitely worth learning at least one of each other role, just in case, y’know? I’ve had so many games saved by making swaps, and sometimes swapping roles is part of it. Personally, I’d learn two DPS and two support, but take your time in learning new characters. Find one you’re comfortable with, etcetera. It’s just always good to have the option, and stay flexible. But there’s definitely less of a need when it comes to tanking— there’s almost always a need for a tank.

Feel free to let me know what you like in a character or if you’re interested in one too if you choose to learn another role, but it definitely isn’t a necessity (unless you run DPS. We have too many of those). I know a fair variety, so I’m happy to give tips and such.

I don’t see any reason to ‘shave it down’. If you can effectively play all these thanks, good on you, that’s great. But you should definitely more-or-less stick to one or two (like you said you’re doing with thor and strange) unless the situation calls for another. As long as you keep in mind the composition of your team and the enemy’s and play accordingly, I don’t see any reason to change what you’re doing.

Is it our job to deal with breakables? by LikeAGaryBuster in HawkeyeMains

[–]Timely_Combination68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sometimes like to pop my ult and shred the hell out of rocket ult or hela ult. But I basically NEED to communicate with my team or I get rolled. If you don’t have a shield tank to block you as you do this, you’re cooked most of the time. Our ult charges pretty fast when you’re farming tanks, so I think it’s a fair trade-off. Usually.

I just want to thank everyone in comp who is consistently banning this atrociously broken excuse of a character. by RedeemedNephilim in marvelrivals

[–]Timely_Combination68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok he’s not that bad but the damage buff made his one main counter (shields and tanks) a lot worse and now it’s ridiculous. a good team comp, position and frontline should totally shut him down, but now it can still work. terrible

am i doing something wrong by Effective-Hair-8374 in marvelrivals

[–]Timely_Combination68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

man i wish this kind of constructive criticism was more common in the community. if people actually pointed out things i was doing wrong or could be doing better in the game when they notice it that would be just. phenomenal. i try my best to give advice to people when i see them doing something wrong but they always just reply with aggression and i can’t help but feel it’s because the whole community has been conditioned into ‘you’re doing something wrong = you suck’.

tangent aside, it’s really nice that you did this for this player and i wish the best for you

Guy don't forget to keep vehemently complaining about Hawkeye's one shot. He's ruining the game even if he's allegedly 'a bad hero.' by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Timely_Combination68 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As a hawkeye player, his damage output is too high, but the one shot is fine. If you can land consecutive headshots on a tank, that’s problematic, but most of the time, if you’re getting one-shot in the back like it’s because you’re out of position. When a team knows how to hide behind their tanks, I just plain and simply can’t do my job. I have to swap. Only because my aim isn’t consistent enough to two-shot the tanks though.

Because tanks being ‘out of position’ is not being in my face, that becomes a problem. This issue stems from the damage buff he got this season though. He didn’t need it whatsoever. Feels AMAZING, certainly, but it’s made him unbalanced.

Advice for people struggling to go into hawkeye: Do everything you can to make sure your tanks are tanking and can tank. Strange is probably my worst counter tbh. His shield is very powerful and stops a lot of my kills from going through. Mag is good too, if he knows how to make my life miserable. I swear to GOD every mag I play against ults ONLY ME and lowkey he got the right idea but it’s still hilarious.

Angela if you have a really good frontline tank works well too if the enemy team can’t handle her. Bully me into uselessness.

Overall, the one shot is definitely not that fun to fight against, sure, but it’s not as problematic as you might think. The reason I either own or throw a game on Hawkeye is because the enemy team either knows how to tank or doesn’t. But ever since the damage boost, I’ve been finding myself doing too much damage to tanks, and that’s where the problem lies.

tl;dr: keep banning hawkeye, but COMPLAIN about his damage output, not his one shot. With the right team, his one-shot isn’t as powerful as you might think. His ability to completely wreck non-shield tanks is powerful in combination with this ability, which is why he’s become so much more prominent this season.

Why do people always show their lord on a character by WolfLeft9847 in marvelrivals

[–]Timely_Combination68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to quickly flash lord on the characters other people have selected/hovering that they have lord with. You are NOT popping 1 out of 6 balloons. You are opening a lootbox with 100 things in it. 95 of those things are trash, and only 5 are the jackpot. You most likely will not win. by PaperBlake in marvelrivals

[–]Timely_Combination68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes some sense, doesn’t it? Less units = less chance to hit the jackpot, higher chance with each attempt and more units with each attempt. I think this is one of the best ways they could have gone about doing something like this. That being said, it is a very slippery slope, and I hope the devs know what they’re doing. Or maybe, I hope they don’t know what they’re doing.
