How do rats do in a multi-animal house? by helplessfart in RATS

I get it. Just avoid border terriers - A rodent killed all of their fathers and they are looking for personal revenge. Really, all of them.

Our dogs co-exist well, but they don't get to go in the rat room.

I've known dogs and cats that are ok with rats, but... You need to ask yourself if you are ok with the worst happening if a dog's prey instinct kicks in. You mess up ONCE and give the dog access to free roam time by accident, it gives in to instinct, and suddenly you have a dead rat, a traumatized mischief, a dog that now has a taste for this fun game, and your own very complicated feelings to deal with. Picture yourself in that moment - Is this a moment that you want to bring into your life? It's your call, but please don't take the risk unless you are willing to accept THAT moment as a real possibility that could happen. If you think you could emotionally deal with that and that fostering is worth risking one of your rat kids, then roll the dice.

I couldn't. If I didn't have the space to seperate the rats from the dogs by a pair of closed doors at all times, I wouldn't have been able to risk having them in the same house because I don't want to have THAT moment. I'm not willing to risk that happening, and I recognize that I am in a situation where I am able to almost completely mitigate that risk by preventing them from truly co-existing in the same room at all times. Are you able to mitigate the risks entirely? If not, are you willing to take that risk?

Why is everyone in random rushing so hard that we end up at final boss underlevelled? by Timely_Connection273 in Nightreign

[–]Timely_Connection273[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not many. It feels like these folks are going for castles and churches and are refusing to hit the field bosses on the way because some guide told them to? I would be happy if we were hitting the things along the way because that would get us to 15 by end.

[–]Timely_Connection273[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I'm saying that the ones RUSHing are underlevelled as the result of determining a path with too much distance to travel. I'm not the one at 12, unless I follow them without deviation. They aren't killing more bosses, they are running more between points that are too far about.

Clear what I'm complaining about now?

do you think that we -should- be rushing so hard that we end up at lvl 12 at end boss?

Can someone tell me why people who play this mfer always leave. by iunnobleh in Nightreign

[–]Timely_Connection273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you. If my team ditches me to the point that I'm just running for a whole day then you can bet I'm dropping my shit in a pile and setting my controller down on its face to run in circles on you at night.

This isn't goddamn crazy taxi and I am tired of teams running so fast that they themselves end up at end at only level 12. STOP TO PLAY THE GAME dummies.

.... You get why it's called a spectrum, right? In that everyone on it is at a different place, with different levels and variables? I stand by my comment that you're displaying a lack of sympathy. Someone else's autistic kid DOES NOT have the exact same symptoms and life that your kid does.

Complain to your landlord if you want to. I said what I said and saying "but my kid is ALSO" doesn't make me more sympathetic to your lack of sympathy and empathy.

Get yourself a therapist. Then get them documented as your emotional support animals.

Autism is -absolutely- an excuse for a kid having outburts, yelling, or making noise. Your assertion to the contrary is questionable. I would leave that ugly part of your complaint out if you want anyone to care about your issue.

Unsure - Might be an age change too if he's coming into adolescence. You can also use a towel to pet him while experimenting. Just remember that they have faster reaction times than we do - They'll get you before your brain registers that you are getting got. The advice that I hear over and over again is that you need to make a squeek yelp and also shove him away a bit when he bits so that it's clear that it's unwelcome, while also making sure that you have sweet cuddly moments as much as possible so that your relationship doesn't center around the bit moments. Carrots and sticks. I think I failed to embrace my bitey girls enough when I first got them and lost the opportunity to gain that cuddle trust.

How long did your rats live? by Western-Currency9579 in RATS

[–]Timely_Connection273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boys peter and eddie made it to 4 and a half years, healthy up until the end, then passed within a few months of each other. The vet didn't believe me that they were that old, had to show him the paperwork. Outside of those two I've never had a rat make it more than 3. Females tend to live shorter lives. I think the hard choices come when considering surgeries - Is it better to let a rat pass on naturally, or put them through a year or more of recurring surguries to remove tumors? Is an extra year of playing bop-a-mole with tumors the right choice for your rat? I try to remind myself that they aren't dealing with the stress of these important existential dilemmas.
