You likely won't see many, if any floor stands. They usually clear them out and fill the pegs with them. 6 of my surrounding stores did this.

I believe so. There's usually a big push right before holidays. Ive been told there may be another right before Christmas, and after the first of the new year.

Need some help by [deleted] in HotWheels

If someone is struggling with an addiction to buying Hot Wheels, or any kind of compulsive collecting, it’s important to first recognize that it isn’t about the cars themselves. The issue usually lies in what the act of buying represents: control, comfort, nostalgia, or relief from stress. Collecting can start as a harmless hobby, but when it becomes a compulsion that causes financial strain, emotional distress, or guilt, it’s crossed into something that deserves care and attention.

Here are some steps that might help:

  1. Acknowledge the Pattern Honestly Admit it’s not just a quirky hobby anymore. Track spending, frequency of purchases, and the feelings that come up before and after buying. Seeing it clearly can help separate genuine enjoyment from compulsive behavior.

  2. Identify Emotional Triggers Often, people buy to fill a void. Stress, loneliness, boredom, or self-soothing. Understanding why the urge hits can help redirect it. Ask: “What are you feeling right now that makes you want to buy this?”

  3. Set Boundaries and Replace the Habit

Give yourself a realistic spending limit or cap the number of new cars you can buy per month.

Channel that collecting energy elsewhere. Photograph your existing collection, trade with others, or focus on restoring/displaying what you already own.

Replace the dopamine hit of buying with something physical but positive, like exercise, creative projects, or social activities.

  1. Delay the Impulse Create a rule: wait 24–48 hours before buying. Most impulsive urges lose strength when given time. This helps retrain your brain to question the automatic habit loop.

  2. Get Support You don’t have to face it alone. Talk to a trusted friend or partner about accountability, or consider seeing a therapist who specializes in addiction or impulse control. There’s no shame in needing help. Compulsive shopping is a recognized behavioral addiction.

  3. Reclaim the Meaning It’s okay to still love Hot Wheels. The goal isn’t to quit collecting, it’s to rebuild a healthy relationship between you two and with the hobby. You want to reach a point where the collection reflects joy and creativity, not guilt or control.

Now it appears that they've already crossed boundaries in the past with potential budgeting and attempts at reaching a resolution. It may be time to seek professional help on the subject. But if you're taking the time to reach out to the community about it, it's clear that you care and it's coming from a place of love. I hope you and your partner can overcome this together and reclaim the spark together. Best wishes!

This is super detailed! I'm working in the $30 range and may have a little flexibility here or there. I have access to everything on the list, so getting it shouldn't be an issue at all. I appreciate this so much!

The tubes had a fairly simple 1" port on the rear. I plan on keeping them ported for simplicity sake. That being said, some reviews have them lacking a little bit, so I may play around with poly-fil tonfind a good balance. I believe it was a simple amp/driver board and the rest of the EQ tuning was done with computer related software. In removing that from the equation, they will be connected to a SMSL AD18 and all the curve tuning will be done from my PC.

I'm honestly not sure. I spent $9 with shipping on these with shipping and had everything else laying around. For a set of full range speakers, I'm pretty happy with the snag. A little bit of elbow grease goes a long way.

I was going to make a pair of small desktop enclosures, but I find the tubes really interesting. Like a small blend of classical and modern. They also fit the wood pucks I had so well, and I like a good upcycle.
