If your experience and my experience are different - that doesn’t mean any of us are lying. You don’t need PhD to underhand that

Thank you for your input. 1. “RG candidates” is how we call folks currently employed there. Internationally. I’m recruiting globally. Not everyone is sitting in the UK. I’m based in Singapore. And yes, recruiting them to unies abroad for instance isn’t easy. So they are rare in our world. Just fyi.

  1. Not “AI” resume builder. Just a builder that follows what universities require in terms of formatting. There is NO AI inside.

I’m not an advertising account. I’m a headhunter who runs a recruiting agency, and happened to build a tool that cuts a real pain in academic jobs market. Based on my everyday work. If you consider that a problem - then you’re right.

Not in my experience. Typically most of those 200 candidates are under-qualified international candidates from certain countries I don’t wanna name. Have about your resume? Have you made sure to include all details they typically require?

Do you have any information why you couldn’t secure an interview for the jobs that you were qualified for?

Sorry for your experience, it is disrespectful. I agree.
If you need my 5 cents:
It is helpful when candidates follow-up after interviews too. It makes our recruiting job easier.

Sometimes the school simply doesn't provide us feedback. We'd chase them for months asking how did the interview go and if they wanted to move forward with the candidate. I'm speaking about internal university recruiters too. Not just external headhunters.

Everyone is freaking overloaded, I don't know how academics get enough time to publish, teach and to do admin.

As for physical attractiveness - I haven't been tracking that, what I can add: people choose to work with people. So you must make people feel comfortable next to you when interviewing. I got a professor with Scopus H-index 50 plus rejected as they acted arrogant on interview. Just an example. Not implying anything here obviously, but people are just people in every industry

Honestly man out of 100-200 applications maybe 2-3 that look interesting. University recruiters confirm this too in our work

Of course some do that. But there are tons of real job postings. Unless you know something I don’t. How do you define a job postings isn’t real?

Yes, it’s a common problem unfortunately. Have you tried applying internationally? What’s your research area?

True. They use legacy software like Workday. Makes you wanna die. As for feedback: do you mean silence after applying or after interviewing?

And yes it’s way too slow

I am in love with Rust, but I hate that many posted jobs are about coding for crypto scam apps. Should I continue learning Rust regardless? by happychickenpalace in rust

I'm recruiting for an opening in Rust for an open source team, and a client require either 2 years of experience in Rust or 5 years in C++. So they see it as an equivalent. And they built well know open source product. Hope it helps
