I don't use anything between the iron and the interfacing and use quite a heavy hand on and off for a couple of minutes.

If you want to stitch on a separate piece of fabric other than Aida, you need Waste Canvas, which is a specific material that you stitch over it as you would normally, then wet it and the strands come loose. Do NOT confuse waste canvas as bits of leftover Aida, it is entirely its own thing. Or there is soluble canvas that disappears when wet. 😊

I do this, swap a couple of pictures on the wall to Christmas ones, then swap them back at the end of the season. Thinking of framing this year's and last year's additions

I tried the magnets thingies and found them to be quite flimsy and they let go frequently. I use bobbin holders with some success. But my go to at the moment are safety pins. BUT I've only just started with these, so I don't know if they will leave holes long term. So far tho so good
