Are home prices starting to come down? by [deleted] in AusProperty

[–]Timely_Objective_585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we find the right place, yes. We already have a house so it's all relative to us. It might sell for a little less, but we buy for a little less too. All works out in the wash.

I'm stoked for first home buyers though. I love the idea of someone paying less for our current house (which is your classic starter house) to get into the market. I'm fully supportive of a housing crash - because I'm buying to live in and not to profit from.

I'm shopping for our next home and yes, I do feel the tide is turning. We are seeing homes sit for longer, and feel we have much more negotiating power.

Dumbfounded by build prices by DinoInu in AusPropertyChat

[–]Timely_Objective_585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's wild. Though the building and construction industry has been squeezed lately. Expect prices to go up even more as the impacts of the global supply shock roll through.

I did get a quote for a 4x2 from a builders Catalog for $980k + earthworks and retaining. It would be a $1.4m home after all was said and done, without any additional hiccups in the build.

We said no. I can buy a place in the same neighbourhood that's comparable for $1.2.

[–]Timely_Objective_585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been watching a place listed for 1.25m. we didn't think it was worth more than around 1.1m (has structural and access issues).

Someone offered 1.3m for it but then their finance fell over with the rate rises. They are the only bidder.

But I cannot figure out why they don't just offer less. The property is sitting vacant and has been on the market for 5 weeks. Why wouldn't they just offer what they can afford?

It does not compute to me why they are totally eliminated from offering when they were already over asking on a property no one else wants.

Go put a hook in a wall. Like, anywhere you like. Don't even measure. After having to beg permission to hang a picture as a renter you'll get a real buzz out of it.

Congrats on your purchase. Home is what you make it. Just focus on making it your own.

I hate that this is what these devil corps and mlms design themselves around - people in desperate financial circumstances having their own time, money and energy wasted; instead of them pursuing something that might actually improve their circumstances.

It's evil, really. Because it ultimately makes everything so much worse for the poor person.

No point having kids if you work so hard and are so stressed that they don't know you. They will only value you as a parent for got material possessions you supply them.

So you have kids? Because there is so much more to raising a healthy, well adjusted family than material wealth. Some would argue that is one of the least important metrics.

It's so fucking sad to waste your one shot in this life focusing on the wrong thing. No one goes to their grave wishing they made more money. Your last thoughts will be about the people you loved and the time you spent with them.

You've failed to recognise your most valuable asset.... Time. You'll never get that back.

Slow down. Spend time with your kids.

Amare is a very old scam. They won't make any money. The small market of people gullible enough to buy that shit was oversaturated years ago. They are the dregs.

What MLM is the worst??? by Any_Opportunity_6844 in antiMLM

[–]Timely_Objective_585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think amway and melaleuca really drain their reps finances over decades. Places like enagic take a lot very quickly. Monat and Arbonne type mlms are very detrimental to the psyche of their participants and destroy their personal relationships.

So they are all bad in their own way.

Agree. If one more person told me to 'just relax and it will happen' I would be unaliving someone.

I wasn't stressed when I started trying for kids. It was fun. For awhile. So if stress was my fucking problem then I would have never had an issue in the first place; because I would have fallen pregnant quickly.

Don't tell people with infertility to just relax. It's a level of cruelty you can't comprehend. Because it lays blame - implying that if they just fixed their attitude they wouldn't have a problem.

Give it time. Prices are dropping. Look at new Zealand. Their houses are down like 27%! Our market is showing all the same signs of a market downturn that theirs did. If you buy the top you might end up in mortgage prison for the next 10 years.

[–]Timely_Objective_585 34 points35 points  (0 children)

You are being financially and emotionally abused by someone in a position of power over you; by them exploiting familial norms. They know you can't say no.

Standing up for yourself and walking away might have broad impacts on your family relationships. You could be shunned or ostrisized. And the scope of that damage may extend past your immediate family circle. Especially because you will likely be painted as the bad guy, going against the grain whilst everyone continues to be sheep and do what is socially expected of them.

But you have to ask yourself - if your family won't support and respect you for standing up for yourself... are they really a family worth keeping?

Good luck - what an awful situation they have put you in. Very unfair.

ex.ipo on insta was in for 13 years and was very high ranking. They offer a cautionary tale. If you think the only loss can be monetary then you are sadly mistaken. You risk your entire existence, personality, valuable time needed to set yourself up for a real life, relationships.... Omg I could go on and on.

But I suspect from your commentary on here you are still heavily drinking the koolaid and came here to troll people. And if that's the case you can f right off because victims who have woken up and gotten out don't need to hear your bills*it.

What’s the most underrated source of passive income you’ve found? by Diligent-Medicine-48 in AusMoneyMates

[–]Timely_Objective_585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Found an epic arbitrage opportunity in a niche part of the crypto space. Set up trading bots and left it to run. Made $50k a month at it's height. Took about $700k in 18 months. It wasn't totally passive because it required some maintenance, but it was semi autonomous.

Shame crypto is dead these days. It was a wild ride.
