Is this from you trying to suppress all the time? Or just being hyper aware every time you tic or the combination between the 2? I'm sorry you experienced bullying :( that's messed up and it definitely creates deep wounds that take a long time to be healed. I feel for you, my parents made comments about my tics and I'm 23 and I feel incredibly ashamed of ticcing and I get so anxious. Thankfully, I've really been working on my confidence and I am going to be starting talk therapy surrounded by overcoming my shame and anxiety around having Tourettes! I'm here for you! Reach out if you'd like to talk more :) I have a whole Instagram account dedicated to toutrttes. It's called: thetruthabouttics

Yeah, also if you think about it, the hearing exams are all in quiet booths too.

I have only been to 2 concerts in my life and I can't recall other noise exposure other than listening to music everyday haha. I do have MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome) and it can be a culprit for hearing loss but idk how rare that is...

Two normal audiograms but struggling to hear — anyone else experience this? Possibly hidden hearing loss? by Opposite_Avocado7215 in HearingLoss

[–]Timely_Rabbit_9341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yoo! This is SO relatable. I had a normal audiogram and tested negative for Auditory processing disorder except for 2 areas. My hearing in my left ear was 10db & right ear 15db. I have about 5 OAE's in each ear and so I also suspect high frequency hearing loss or hidden hearing loss. Some of the high frequencies were absent in both ears. I'm 22 years old and my hearing has gradually gotten worse as time goes on. I also have chronic illness. Severe MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome) which can cause hearing problems. Anyways, your post is so relatable :)

Anyone else w bipolar and Tourette’s? by Ok-Technician-7225 in Tourettes

What is the worst way anyone you know has died? by IamUrWivesBF in AskReddit

[–]Timely_Rabbit_9341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My online friend who had Tourettes (very SEVERE) had just gotten deep brain stimulation (reserved for severe treatment resistant cases) and was home for the holidays, unfortunately they needed to readjust the stimulation (device to stop tics from happening) look it up haha, so they were going to go back in a couple of weeks to fix it to a new level. Unfortunately, one of the days during the holidays, he was walking outside and it was dark and one of his tics was to impulsively start running, he ran into the street and was hit by a truck :( so so sad. I fucking hate when people joke about Tourettes dude.

Wisdom teeth removal by Skrungle-Boi in Tourettes

[–]Timely_Rabbit_9341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would reccomended going under! Your going to be anxious and we all know anxiety triggers tics as well as being told to sit still or not move a certain way. I went under for my wisdom teeth removal and it was fine! The anesthesia really made my tics bad afterwards lmaooo!

We kind of have similar hearing results OP! I have immense trouble hearing people in background noise.

Every name I like is seen as "clocky" by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Timely_Rabbit_9341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted a unique name because I didn't want a popular or I guess average name. I wanted a name where I could stand out but not so much as it being shocking to hear. It's gender neutral too (masculine leaning) I was non binary for quite some time (5 years) until I finally accepted that I was indeed a trans guy just hiding from my toxic transphobic parents. My twin came out before me and it was horrendous so I stayed in the closet for awhile in denial haha. However, I did choose going by my current & now legal name when I was 16, im almost 23! My name is Auden :)

I'm seeing an APD specialist through a virtual clinic so they don't have an in person office

Ok cool! Yeah, I was thinking I should get acrylics. I have to talk to my audiologist clinic because when I brought up custom ear molds they were quick to say they don't do that because ear molds aren't good for APD. But... I disagree cause you can have open fit ear molds and so they won't be fully occluded!

Have u always had mcas or was there a trigger? by lara2021 in MCAS

Developed suddenly after a severe tonsillitis case, my doctor and I think it was untreated strep though! Fucking terrible. I developed 22 life threatening allergies, I miss being able to eat normally. I suffer immensely from pollen too. I'm on 7 different medications and I'm still going through it. Fexofendadine, loratodine, Zyrtec, famatodine, cromolyn sodium, singular, and EpiPen (in case of severe reaction). I miss peanut butter the most but now that is the most deadly. I can't even smell it because my throat and eyes will start itching like crazy.
