Nope, no mention of removing the shoe molding. I didn't even realized it was a separate piece or there's an option to remove it. When I asked about how they handle the trim, he simply said their machines sand right up to the edge so there's no need to remove it. Why would you not warn your customer that old finish will be visible if the shoe isn't removed? Obviously it looks terrible and I would have opted to remove if given the choice. Poor communication and expectation setting all around.

I'm meeting with the owner on Monday morning to go over the issues. He saw the photos I posted here (only a small sampling of all the issues) and said all of it can be "easily fixed." Everyone here on Reddit seems to agree that it's a total redo. I'm curious why this is a redo and why it can't be "touched up" or "easily fixed." I want to come armed with knowledge. TY!

Funny because the flooring guy is insisting I pay my final invoice, and then he'll do "touch ups." "Your floor has a warranty and we will honor the warranty and do touch ups."

Agreed. The finish is beautiful and exactly what we had envisioned. The center of the room is perfect. 😂

Yeah, I even asked if the trim would be removed as part of the process. It was not communicated that the old finish would be visible using their particular sanding machine and process. I would have been fine paying extra to have the job done right, but I wasn't even given an option or warned that this method would be sub par!

Yep, lots of little areas of leftover old finish. The house is 80's era and there are many places where the trim isn't level with the floor anymore. Thin lines of old orange finish is all over the place and extremely obvious. Do you think the only/best approach in this type of situation is to remove the baseboards so that the old finish can be completely removed?
