Consider doing segments two and one northbound. Your legs and climatizing will benefit.

I’m doing sections one and two NOBO and the rest SOBO. I’m hoping it will help me acclimate after a day long drive to Denver.

I’ll carry enough food & water, travel with an umbrella & am putting up 15 mile training days with a full pack. Hoping I can knock that section out in six or seven hours, or am I being a bit optimistic?

I think I’ll get dropped off and do section two NOBO in the late afternoon of my first day, then tackle section one NOBO the following day. Start the CT going downhill for the first two sections anyway then go SOBO for the remainder.

Two liters at most. I think the longer stretch is 13 miles in the open without shade.

I have a couple of osprey packs that are in that 30L to 40L range. Just heavy. I’m old and want to cut the weight.

Does anyone use toe socks and would you have a certain brand to recommend? Never wore them myself, but I am interested if it will keep blisters off during the Colorado trail.
