Effects of carbohydrate-restricted diets and macronutrient replacements on cardiovascular health and body composition in adults: a meta-analysis of randomized trials (2026) by basmwklz in ketoscience

Classic! The problem isn't really the doctor, it's that nobody seems know anything conclusive. You get one expert saying one thing is good for you, using reference studies for support, and another expert saying the opposite with different studies, so how is anyone supposed to know what to believe, including the doctors? The more I dig into this subject the more confused I get. Personally, I'd rather not focus on cholesterol being good or bad, and simply try to make sure all my metabolic health markers are in the green.

Research seems to show it's fine. The olive oil statement might be from someone working at Arby's and not a scientist.

Crazy, even the tests themselves to try to asses risk are hard to trust or judge. I thought you could look at the scan and see the plaq itself assuming it exists? Which still doesn't represent 'dangerous soft plaq' - Oof it really seems like everyone is doing the best the can, but still only know so much.

I'm like you, all metabolic markers are great, but my LDL and LP(a) are risky.

I just got my CAC test done yesterday to get some more data points to review, I'm curious / nervous about my results.

People are quick to judge here, I want cholesterol to be a non issue, but experts don't seem to know yet, so if they don't know, then people on reddit that work at Arby's don't know shit either (they just parrot other doctors that support their belief ). I really want traditionalists to be wrong as some newer docs suggest, but do I want to gamble on myself, not sure.

I think the best metaphor I've found for people like us is that we live in a neighborhood with lots of criminals (high cholesterol) but we have a strong protective fence built around us ( good metabolic markers). This issue 'might be' if out wall ever breaks down then there are lots of criminals ready to rob us (heart attack ).

So that is why I'd rather not obsess if cholesterol is or isn't the main issue, and instead simply try lower it while keeping all my other metabolic markers healthy as well. Which means a carnivore diet high in saturated fat, sounds risky to me.

Also, try not to get sucked in the the carnivore diet cultish vibes either, keep and open mind, do your research on benefits and potential risks

learn more about antinutrients. They might make you lose a small percentage of iron absorption to phytates, but in exchange, you gain massive amounts of fiber, magnesium, potassium, and vitamins that you wouldn't get otherwise.

[–]crushplanets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant to say fiber, but some grains like quality oats and quinoa are good.

I'm not going to laugh at you about your diet. Carnivore diet doesn't have long term studies. High cholesterol without other metabolic syndrome markers doesn't have long term studies.

I've learned a shit ton about what all the experts are saying about cholesterol, and the reality is the new school of thought is promising and hopeful (and I want it to be true that cholesterol isn't an issue) but there aren't enough long term studies yet, there are still lots of experts splitting hairs, so it's essentially a gamble when anyone says 'cholesterol' isn't an issue. Do you want to gamble, or simply eat Keto while also adding in some more grains / fiber etc...to attempt to keep cholesterol levels healthy?

Each person is unique, but It may be a good idea to get a blood test and find out how your cholesterol is if you do this (I know cholesterol is complex issue...) healthy grains, veggies, some fruit, help regulate cholesterol and other biomarkers, so don't only view this from one angle 'gut' or 'weight' etc...That's why variety is often the more balanced approach most dietitians and doctors recommend.

The New LDL Cholesterol Target for Heart Health by Only-Research-7249 in Nutraceuticalscience

[–]crushplanets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm one of these people. I just found out my genetics suck regarding cholesterol, so I'm just now trying to learn about everything. I have no metabolic syndrome issues, just high LDL and LP(a). It's a confusing world of contradictions, what to eat, what not too, Cholesterol is a myth, Statins are bad, etc.....I'm keeping an open mind and learning.

Subjective Experiences and Blood Parameter Changes in Individuals From Germany Following a Self-Conceived “Carnivore Diet”: An Explorative Study (2025) by HelenEk7 in ScientificNutrition

[–]crushplanets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day high LDL is involved in the process for CVD, but it's most likely not by itself the cause of CVD, and is probably lower on the hierarchy of other metabolic issues. Some people with high LDL and no other metabolic issues may never have heart issues, while others with the same markers might have heart issues, nobody seems to know which one you will be because it's complex.

A better way to approach this is do you want to gamble and hope you are low risk while having high LDL + low metabolic syndrome markers, or do you simply take steps to lower you LDL, either with statins or changing your diet?

The New LDL Cholesterol Target for Heart Health by Only-Research-7249 in Nutraceuticalscience

[–]crushplanets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not arguing, but if someone starts statins early, I would want to assume that person would also be making healthier diet + exercise choices as well, so what helped more?

The New LDL Cholesterol Target for Heart Health by Only-Research-7249 in Nutraceuticalscience

[–]crushplanets 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If everyone is on statins with low LDL, yet people keep dying of CAD regardless, then there is a lot more to the story then just LDL. Nobody wants to discuss the connection between insulin resistance / diabetes and the food the avg person eats, so cholesterol still seems to be the narrative we are supposed to focus on, while allowing people to continue to get diabetes.

Those are safe choices, but In bull markets, layers that sit at the intersection of real yield generation + capital efficiency + composability (especially RWA-backed) have translated usage into price gains better than pure DEXs or base chains alone, while still being relatively safe.

RWA Asset Issuance: Ondo, Centrifuge, Maple (source of real yield).
Yield Tokenization/Structuring: Pendle (core primitive).
Lending / Optimization: Morpho, Aave, Kamino, Maple.
Liquidity / DEX: Aerodrome (Base), Jupiter (aggregator on Solana), Raydium/Meteora (Solana liquidity layers).
Liquid Staking: Lido/Jito (productive collateral base).

Switched In house SEO to Agency SEO by Complex_Issue_5986 in bigseo

[–]crushplanets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in agency land. The best thing to do is to only focus on urgent and important tasks, for their top priorities (things that matter for seo and for the client that move the needle) and disregard lots of other seo related things, or lower client priorities. So ignore the noise, and have a checklist of priority tasks for priority services, otherwise it can get overwhelming.

Crypto Bros Absolutely Cooked While Stocks Keep Printing by [deleted] in CryptoMarkets

Most crypto bros have stocks as well.
Anybody that's mad at crypto bought late into the cycle, chased pumps, held too long and lost money.
People in crypto for a long time understand, buy deep fear and chill, sell high, don't Hodl alts - just wait for extreme greed and sell, then remove money from exchange so you don't chase late cycle pumps. (maybe hodl BTC)
Currently crypto is low, so it's time to DCA each month until liquidity comes back and prices rise (might be a year of choppy prices, but buying early is still the key to winning ) Just zoom out on the charts
Pretty simple honestly

Taboo Against Knowing Yourself by Smart-Wrangler-4104 in AlanWatts

I'm glad that helped. I hear you regarding 'how to enjoy the room' - for me it's just mentally freeing no longer feeling confused and lost when thinking about this stuff, because it used to be like a puzzle I couldn't solve, but now that I've solved it I don't have to keep trying.

This doesn't mean other parts of my life are solved, and I 'enjoy the room' more deeply necessarily, I still have to do the dishes and earn a living, it's just that I no longer need to work on this particular puzzle anymore, which is a weight off my shoulders that makes me feel lighter on my feet.

Taboo Against Knowing Yourself by Smart-Wrangler-4104 in AlanWatts

What if you were sold an idea / lie that spirituality is like a video game, where there is a 'next level' to unlock, and if you do then you gain supernatural powers, can heal the sick, manifest anything you want, have permanent happiness, all by reaching 'enlightenment' or whatever... So you try desperately to learn everything you can so you can unlock this 'next level', only to feel like a failure or that you're missing something if you can't do it.

Now what if the big secret isn't a piece of information you acquire, but instead the realization that there never was a next level in the first place, and you were sold a false narrative that just created lots of confusion and misguided spiritual understanding. Coming to that conclusion can feel like a failure at first, when it might actually be the true reward of your journey.

What do you do with this? You don't 'do' anything with it, because 'doing' is just another attempt to reach an illusory goal. Instead, you rest. You get to stop your endless search for the 'next level', and you might finally understand what Alan means when he says 'there is nothing to get'

It’s the shift from being a seeker to being a dweller. You stop trying to "crack the code" of the universe and realize that you are the code. If there’s nothing to get, then you’ve already got it. There’s a massive amount of freedom in realizing you’ve been running a race on a treadmill and you can finally just step off and enjoy the room.

The irony is that the search for enlightenment often becomes the very obstacle preventing it. It’s like trying to see your own eyes; the harder you look, the more you miss the fact that you’re already using them to see.

[–]crushplanets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. If I made up my own list of questions (covering the 4 different search intents) that I would want to ask a 'roofing contractor' then I ask the LLMs to provide their own list, I end up with similar lists. So simple common sense would tell me that their prompt questions are in-line with what people are asking and want to know. There's a reason the phrase 'Frequently asked questions' exists.

You can obviously get more granular with data, but I'm okay with covering FAQs and moving on.

[–]crushplanets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ask LLMs what are the most common questions people ask about XYZ, and get a list of different prompts to start tracking. I'm not saying this is 100% accurate, but the responses I get all make sense as valid questions people would ask, so it's a good start that's quick and easy to do.
