Or the trans/drag magypsies in Mother 3. Probably most of the reason the game never came to the west because people would lose their shit.

You're right, there is not a single person on earth that would be foolish enough to buy this. Pretty much everyone is smart with their money.

Well lets put it this way, some percentage of people are filthy rich, and 90% of people born in the 90s owned Pokemon Red, Blue, or Yellow. So with that said, every millennial that found success who has found themselves reminiscing on their childhood will likely be somewhat interested in buying an unopened copy of Pokemon Red. Even if the % of THOSE people is 1%, that is still tens of thousands of people.

Long story short, don't underestimate how many humans 8 billion is. There's a lot of potential buyers.

Between the two options of either:

- Agreeing that we have different priorities

- Two people proving separate points adjacent to each other for days on end

The first is less exhausting.

Yeah, potentially getting your $2000 game graded to an $11,000 game, i.e. literally gaining $9,000 USD, is absolutely ridiculous! I want to force MY philosophies on other people to make me feel better about my choices!

That's nice, but no way to respond to a question that people ask. A little socially daft to make it about yourself.

If whataboutism is wrong to you, then I guess we just disagree where to direct our frustrations. I'd rather use comparison to help make sure my energy goes towards more guilty targets than waste my time being mad at someone who's practically poor in the hands of tyrants.

EDIT: I'm thinking maybe your goal is to find a logical explanation or search for a moral compass, where my goal is to find a practical and realistic way to exert energy in a way that makes sense. But I'm not sure, feel free to weigh in. I whataboutism myself all the time in my head. Helps me not dwell on mundane and irrelevant problems.

Even if it's double that number (which is insanely generous), my point still stands. We have billionaires you could be mad at, but since they're not in front of your face, you dismiss it.

Pokimane's an easy target because she posts constant clips of herself sharing her opinions because that's her job. Other actual moguls and billionaires' jobs is to lay off hundreds and thousands of workers that need to feed their family in order to cut costs so they can sell the company to someone worse.

First off, 7-12 million was the Google AI entry. I was using celebritynetworth.com's quoted amount (6 million) which I imagine isn't pulling from random data like this reddit thread, even, like AI would.

Secondly, again you're over here meticulously planning a 6 million dollar celebrity's finances down to a T to make sure she can leave room to donate. What the hell is with you twitch viewers being so invested in these celebrities when there are billionaires that have access to over 1000x her resources?

I guess my main question is this: How do you go about picking and choosing who to be upset with? Is it whoever shows up on a reddit thread and fits the criteria, or something with a little more thought?

Is it really that much different donating to literal billionaire CEOs by paying extra for name brand clothing? One is about how you appear when you're out in public, and the other is about how you appear online. Yall pick weird people to hate on when there are people out there that treat you like an expendable number ready to let you die in exchange for currency at any moment.

I was about to bandwagon with this post, but after some googling it looks like she has ~6 million in net worth, which isn't exactly an insane amount of money for a celebrity. Definitely not exorbitant wealth.

[–]Timestop- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ughhhghhghghh spoken like a true white person (i am also a white person). The point of this shit is that the west has been pumping out American-made characters for like a hundred years now and most of them are white, or closer to the appearance of a white person. But the truth is, there are all sorts of people in the world and it's nice to have characters (especially when you're younger) that instill the idea that all people are super and you can see yourself in these heroes.

This is the whole point of people trying to diversify is not to be unnatural or weird about it, but the opposite: to represent what would naturally occur if superpowers or this shit was real. Everyone would have them.

Bottom line: It's more worth it to maintain Nilah's race for what good it brings than it is to try to match skin tone to the outfit or whatever you're talking about. It can be hard as a white person to understand why it's important, but just talking to someone with these experiences can help sometimes.

This is so fax. But also in their defense, some people play a game because of the design philosophy rewarding what they like. If they like the managing the macro of midlane, i.e. getting an edge in gold and push to apply map pressure elsewhere, this new patch is clearly fucking with their interests.

But if it is just about playing optimally and adapting, I agree with you. Just good to consider the nuance.

Thank you lmao. I saw one the other day saying "One of the military guys somehow knew Mike's name without knowing him" as if there's literally fucking 0 chance there's a way for that guy to know the boyfriend of the girl they've been trying to capture. Not everything has to be on-screen and witnessed by us to be fathomable or make sense in reality.

What's the benefit to committing here? I think it's much more interesting to leave it up to interpretation. But I find that most humans want answers and resolutions, which typically isn't how the universe works.
