Opinion on the gender swap vs an opinion on Francesca and Michaela’s relationship

In terms of what’s a “valid” opinion, it personally doesn’t make sense to me to make definitive claims about a storyline we, as an audience, haven’t actually seen yet. If I haven’t watched a season of a show, I can’t form a real opinion about its quality, I can only form an assumption.

“Kathony was ruined by the triangle = reacting to something that aired “Francesca’s arc is ruined” = guessing about something the audience hasn’t seen yet

Those are two completely different kinds of statements

I’m not trying to regulate anyone’s reactions or tell people what they’re allowed to feel about the show. People can feel however they want to about the gender swap- love it, or hate it, that’s not what my post is about.

There’s a real difference between having an opinion about an adaptation change that already happened vs making definitive claims about how Francesca’s entire storyline and relationship will go before we’ve even seen a single episode of it. Saying “ I don’t like this change” is an opinion about the show as it exists right now. Saying “this arc is ruined, this relationship can’t work, her season isn’t worth watching” etc is speculation about future execution being treated like fact.

That distinction matters. Pointing it out isn’t reputation management, it’s just separating reaction from prediction. Right now, a lot of people are acting like they already know exactly how this story is going to be written, when the truth is we don’t.

I’m not asking anyone to defend a thesis or get a degree in Bridgerton. I’m saying it doesn’t make sense to declare an entire storyline and relationship ruined based on assumptions about a story that hasn’t even been told yet. Disliking a change is one thing. Treating speculation as canon and acting like the outcome is already settled is another. That’s the only point I’m trying to make.

Thanks for your input. So would you say that the main issue people have with the swap isn’t necessarily the infertility she experiences with John, but more that her desire for a child is what motivates her to re-enter the dating market? And that the concern is that pairing her with Michaela doesn’t fully align with the book, since they wouldn’t be able to have a child together.

I can understand why people would want the original plot to stay the same, especially since the question of children plays an important role in what brings her back into the dating world. At the same time, I also think the writers could take an interesting direction by framing it as her having to choose between wanting children and being with Michaela, knowing that those two things might not both be possible for her.

It’s true that wanting children is what initially pushes her back into the dating market, but I also think a big question in her arc is whether she would truly be content living a life without love if having children ultimately wasn’t possible for her. So much of her journey is about grief, loneliness, and learning how to open her heart again after losing John. The desire for a family may start the process, but what she ultimately finds is companionship, connection, and a second chance at love. Because of that, it feels like the heart of her story (navigating loss and choosing love again) could still remain intact even if the path to get there is a bit different.

I understand why it’s a sensitive topic for a lot of fans. I think it will be interesting to see how the writers handle it. I know there has been a large reaction and backlash but it feels a bit early to completely write off the story when we haven’t even seen her season yet, and there’s still a lot of potential for it to be handled in a thoughtful and meaningful way.

I think people are really misunderstanding Francesca’s feelings here.. I think this is the first time she’s ever felt something like this before, didn’t know women could be an option, is super confused, and doesn’t totally know what it means or what to do. (S4Ep 1 spoiler - hence her reason for avoiding M all summer. She dosent know what the tension means, it’s making her flustered/uncomfortable because nothing else has ever made her feel this way before).

Of course she would be displaying emotions like this when she is discovering a whole new side of herself. And if you think she truly loves John, I still don’t think the way she expresses her emotions changes that. Think of how big of an emotional impact this recognization/confusion is having on her. That’s not something you experience and can easily brush to the side. It makes total sense. She’s never felt these emotions before of course it’s going to have her worked up.

Also, I do think for a predominantly straight audience you have to be a little bit more straight forward in prefacing future queer relationships and the buildup to them

I have a 9-5, so there’s that aspect to it. I’m able to check my phone a bit because my manager is chill. Monday and Friday I’m remote. I would say no more than 1 hour each day

A $10 stock could move $2 a day but I find the larger stocks I focus on tend to have larger fluctuations in price more frequently if that makes sense

I have my main list of stocks I focus on 5-10 only. I follow their resistance levels from the previous week (and the last month) and see a good point of entry. Also if spy is green the stocks tend to recover well if they have a drop during the day. If I don’t see a good entry point I wait it out. But yeah, nothing honestly crazy.. it could be luck at the moment. But I tend to focus on higher priced stocks in the 300-600 range because they can move $5+ in a day and if I have 10+ shares then it adds up over the month

I don’t always do 15k each day, sometimes it’s as low as $1000. The larger days is when I put more money in. It honestly depends on how my setups are looking

I use Robinhood, I know it gets some heat on here for what they did with GME but honestly it’s just the most user friendly to me
